October 13th Race Discussion

I apologize for the slow update... work has been hectic! Just for the record, I'm pulling all of this from memory.

Fall Classic Highlights:

Pure Stock: They were really racing neck and neck the entire feature. Lee Mclain and Lesa Vaughan duked it out up front for a good part of the feature with Lee coming out victorious. There was a... how shall I say this... 'interesting' restart. Through the chaos, somebody decided that a few people jumped the start... so they moved Seth Anderson to 3rd in front of Russell Mclain and one other driver (I think it was Ricky Allen but it may have been #7 Muhlhauser). I personally think the restart in question should have been declared null and void (false start) due to general chaos, but that's just me! Again, I need to congratulate Lee Mclain on an awesome way to cap a points championship. Nice job!

Factory Stock: I really don't remember much here other than about 23 cars on the track all going about the same speed and banging into each other. I had my eye on local hero Jerry Wagner. I knew that if any children or old ladies got into harms way during the race that he would jump out of his car to save the day... but everybody stayed safely seated. I honestly don't remember who won... I'm pretty sure he wasn't a local though.

E-Mod: I was extremely pleased to see two of my favorite drivers take first and second in this feature. There was a hot rod from some other track... I dont' remember the guys' name, but he has a bounty on him at his home track for about $500 bucks. He was agressive as hell on the track. I don't mind drivers who drive like this guy does actually... he didn't do anything that Allen Frailey wouldn't have done. If you block a faster car enough times, you're going to get run into. That's what happened as Ross got into him about 5 times. Finally Ross got by and #67 Northrup soon followed. Those three finished 1,2,3. Congratulations to Ross especially on a great way to cap a points championship! I should also say this about Northrup - Do you realize he's running those heavy hoosiers? I challenge you to find another E-Mod feature that pays $500 where a guy in the top 3 is running hoosiers given the chance to run IMCA tires. Nice job Mike!

Modified Feature: My wife is very, very sad. I told her when we got married that I would be honest with her at all times. I refused to change that when I got home from the races.

I got home and I said, "Baby, I have very bad news about us. I've found a new love."

She says, "Oh really? Who is that?"

I said, "You know Randy Frailey right? That crazy guy I always talk about?"

She says, "Yea..."

I said, "Well... I saw a guy race who blew him away. I fell in love. His name is Terry Beckham."

Well, she isn't really sad because she knows I'm full of crap, but WOW - That guy is awesome! I can't wait to see him hit the highbanks again. I've never seen anybody shred the highbanks like Terry. I think he may have some kind of brain damage that causes him to think driving 90 MPH 6 inches from the wall is OK! My kinda guy!

haha... anyway... They had a LONG green stretch to the checkered flag. I think all but 5 or 6 cars were lapped by Beckham. Randy Frailey took 4th, Chad Wheeler took 3rd, Dustin Boney took 2nd, and Beckham took an easy victory. Oh yea, Holzkemper took 5th. Nice racing!

October 6th Race Discussion

Pure Stock Heat 1 - Dale Hancock jumped out to a sizeable lead early on and held onto it. His car was working flawlessly right from the start. Meanwhile, Vaughan moved up to third behind the 32 car and they stayed that way to the finish. Fastest car on the track: Salina Racing Blog's sponsor Dale Hancock!

Pure Stock Heat 2 - They went 3 wide through turns 1 and 2.... then did it again in turns 3 and 4. Lee Mclain took the lead coming out of turn 1 on the second lap, but Tulley Braden quickly took over. They battled for another lap with Lee on the inside, and he took the spot on the back straight. Tulley Tailed him the rest of the way and they finished; Lee, Tulley, Emily Jackson.

Factory Heat 1 - Billy Frohnapfel jumped into first on the first lap and drove away from the field. Meanwhile, Steve Smith moved into second and tried to track him down. Mark Garman wasn't too far behind in third. The 541 car was turning some serious RPM's... He's mean to an engine but fast on the track!

Factory Heat 2 - Mike Badley (#89) was up front along side the #11. BJ Frohnapfel decided 2-wide wasn't exciting enough on the first lap, so they went 3 wide in the first turn. Badley jumped out to the lead followed by BJ and Cantwell. Cantwell took 2nd from BJ and tried to track down Badley up front. A lap later, he began challenging Badley on the inside, but kept getting a bit loose in turn 1. Badley took the win followed by Cantwell and BJ Frohnapfel.

Factory Heat 3 - Mike Sweet started up front with Campbell on his outside and Morgan right behind. Wagner started back in 5th. Sweet maintained the lead on the first lap as Wagner tried to weave through traffic. The Wagner took the lead coming out of 4 on the 2nd to last lap and held on for the victory. Sweet took 2nd followed by Morgan.

E-Mod Heat 1 - Ross started on the back and quickly got stuck in traffic. Meanwhile, Northrup jumped out to a commanding lead with a 3-way battle raging behind him. Ross was ticking off some very fast laps (Low 17's). The racing in back was brutal and Ross had to settle for 5th.

E-Mod Heat 2 - Gary Dilbeck started up front with Carl Conley on his outside. Montgomery started on the inside of the 2nd row followed by Davin Blake on the inside of the 3rd row. On the first lap, Conley jumped into the lead, but was fighting a tight condition. Dilbeck took over when Conley pushed up high in turn 4. Conley retook the lead back in turns 1 and 2. Once again, Gary stuck his nose in front, but Conley held on. Montgomery was just waiting on a chance to get by both of them. Turn 4 was tough for Conley, that's where he was losing time. Dilbeck was fast! Dilbeck took the heat victory, his second of the season, followed by Conley and Montgomery. It was awesome to watch Conley work that E-Mod... The only driver I've seen do so well with such a tight car is Mike Collins earlier in the season.

Modified Heat 1 - Campbell started on the pole with Duval on his outside. Crowe started 3rd, Jeran 5th, Wilhite 6th, and Morton 7th. On the first lap, Duval took the top spot coming around the high side of turns 3 and 4. Morton had his machine hooked up but was stuck in traffic. About midway through the heat, Duval nearly got into the back wall and had to get off the gas allowing Campbell to close in, but he held onto the lead. Duval held on for the win followed by Campbell, Crowe, and Jeran Frailey.

Modified Heat 2 - Corky Ramm started on the pole with Cates in 2nd, Griggs in 3rd, Barbee 4th, 1/2 5th, Skaggs 6th, and Randy Frailey 7th. On the first lap, Cates spun on the high side of turn 4. Corky got sideways when he hit his breaks and got slammed pretty good by Randy Frailey who was also hard on his breaks. Unfortunately, Corky made his way to the pits. Cates and Randy stayed out on the track. The #8 was also involved and had an interesting sheet-metal situation on his left side. It looked like he sprouted a big wing. On the restart, Randy was stuck behind traffic as Griggs tried to hold off Barbee for the lead. The 8 car spun & stalled coming out of 2 which brought out the caution. By now, his sheet metal was so bent up he had no visibility outside his driver-side window. That's gotta be rough! On the restart, Randy Frailey made a big move on the outside to take third. He took 2nd from Griggs a couple laps later in the same spot. Then he started to reel in Skaggs who had made his way into the lead. Skaggs was took quick forever and Randy had to settle for 2nd. Barbee took third followed by Griggs.

Pure stock Feature - On the first lap, things got a little crazy as the faster cars tried to work their way forwards from the rear. On the 2nd or 3rd lap, Russell Mclain was still fighting his car after last Saturday's wreck. He went off the end in turn 3 about the same time there was a 2 car pileup in turns 1 and 2. On the restart, Hancock was out front followed by the 32. When they went green, Hancock took off and Vernon Vale moved into 3rd. Lee began picking his way throughout he field passing one car after another. After a few laps, Hancock was way out front. Lee moved into 4th with Lesa Vaughan not far behind. By this point, Hancock had a straight-a-way lead over the #32. Lee took 3rd from Vail and 2nd from the #32. He set his sites on Hancock, but had a long ways to go. Meanwhile, Vaughan was working on Vail for 3rd. Several laps later, Hancock began working his way through lap-traffic, but a caution came out as Vernon got spun in 4. The bad news for Hancock was that his huge lead was erased and he had one very fast car with Lee Mclain behind the wheel on his rear. On the restart, Dale took a while to get up to speed as Lee and Vaughan went around either side of him. Vaughan moved to the lead with Lee close behind. Vaughan took the win followed by Lee and Hancock.

Factory Feature - Badley started on the pole. On the start, The 11 car got into the #99 hard in turn 1... it looked like the 11 lost his breaks. After the restart, they ran a couple of laps until a caution came out for some reason unknown to me. On the restart, Garman got spun in 4 but they stayed green. BJ Frohnapfel was out front followed by Sweet and Badley. They stayed green for a lot of laps with BJ still the leader. On another caution restart, the 25 battled BJ for the lead on the high side, but BJ held him off for several laps. Finally, The 25 took the lead on the front straight. Meanwhile, Salina Highbank hero Jerry Wagner, battled his way up from the back... he sat in 5th looking underneath Billy Frohnapfel for 4th. I cannot stress this enough how heroic the effort of Jerry Wagner was to move all the way from the rear up to 4th. Unfortunately, his steering wheel popped loose.. and he came to a stop. At the same time, Smith pulled to the infield with a problem. The #25 took the win followed by BJ Frohnapfel, and Sweet. But we should all remember the great feats of local hero Jerry Wagner! What a man!

Oh, I also took a picture of Jerry on his way to the track. I love the new paint scheme on the back Jerry! Very, very nice!

E-Mod Feature - Dilbeck and Allen Steddum were on the front row. On the start, Montgomery got spun on the back straight bringing out a caution. On the restart, Northrup moved into 2nd and tried to reel in the 11 car (not cagle). Allen Steddum got into the back of Northrup in turn 4 spinning him around and the caution flew. On the restart, Ross was in 3rd with Conley in 4th. Ross worked his way around the low side into the lead with the 11 challenging on the outside. The caution flew when a few cars got into it in turn 1. Mike Northrup was one that got sideways and a car got into him when it couldn't slow down. On the restart, Ross held onto the lead while the 11 and 98 battled for 2nd. Ross searched the track for a fast line... going high and low and everywhere in between. Another caution came out as contact was made in turn 2 sending several cars spinning. On the restart, Ross got out to another good lead as Conley got by the 11 for 2nd. Ross opened up a commanding lead with Conley maintaining 2nd. After another caution, Ross took off again with the 11 and 2 behind him. Ross took his 14th victory followed by the 11 and 2.

My laptop battery crapped out before the start of the Modified feature, so I'm going by memory.

Modified Feature: Randy Frailey started in 6th. Greg Skaggs started in 8th or so with Jeran somewhere in there too. Brandon Morton was starting towards the rear, but it was clear early on that he was fast. Randy moved his way into the lead without too much delay and opened up a big lead fast. Meanwhile, Skaggs moved up into 3rd or 4th, but got spun out sending him back or out of the race (sorry bad memory). Morton was workin the low side tonight and he worked his way into 3rd with about 5 laps to go. Finally, he slipped into second but couldn't reel in Randy who had an eighth of a mile lead. Morton took 2nd with Randy taking the victory. Barbee and Cates took 3rd and 4th. I also heard that all 4 cars barely passed tech inspection... the tech inspector was particularly detailed in his analysis of the cars tonight... or was he?

Before I continue, I took a lot of good pics yesterday at the track. I'll be posting them bit by bit over the next few weeks.

I spent my time taking pics last night, so I didn't take notes. I'm going by memory here!

Pure Stock Heats - Dale Hancock fought to hold off Lesa Vaughan... on the last lap Lesa tried to dive down low but Dale shut the door and took the win.

Pure Stock Feature - Team F4 Phantom (Lee, Russell, Ricky Allen, and Jessie Muhlhauser) finished 2nd through 5th. Russell was the fastest driver on the track, but was unable to get past Lesa Vaughan who was taking advantage of the fast lane up top. Nice racing!

Factory Feature - I believe it was Darrell Sweet who took the victory here. He ran up front most of the feature. He consistently knocked down fast laps. If he made one mistake, he'd have been passed. Several guys were right behind him, but again... there was only 1 fast groove last night and he never faultered. Nice race!

E-Mod Heats - The first E-Mod heat was crazy enough. There were several intentional spin-outs... and plenty of accidental ones. It was fun to watch! It was very unfortunate in the second heat though... Randy Frailey driving Copple's #66 was on the high side coming out of two when the car underneath him got loose sending Frailey up into the wall on the back straight. It was a HARD hit! It shoved the engine compartment all the way to the right side of the car. When he came off the wall, Mike Collins had no place to go and smacked into the #66 hard. It ended both cars for the night, and probably the season.

To all drivers: If somebody is on your high side coming out of turn 1 or 2, you MUST give them racing room... Some of the worst injuries happen when guys get pushed up into the wall coming out of a turn.

E-Mod Feature - Montgomery made his way up front pretty quickly. Ross, meanwhile, had to battle his way through traffic. He did a great job and made his way up to second, but ran out of laps to reel in Montgomery. Congratulations to Montgomery on another victory and Ross on 2nd.

Modified Heats - Randy Frailey came out on a mission in his heat... it's good to see he's back up to speed. I heard through the grapevine that his car has been suffering from a strange fuel delivery problem over the last month or so.. but it was clearly fixed last night. Jason Hughes looked extremely fast as well, but was stuck back in traffic most of the heat.

Modified Feature - Three guys took off from the rest of the field. #52 Long or Kiefer (I'm not sure which), Jason Hughes, and Randy Frailey. Hughes did the better job of squeezing through traffic as he lead after only a few laps. Randy escaped next, followed by #52. #52 put a mean slide job on Frailey in turns 1 and 2 to take over second. I think he was on a softer compound though... he started fading towards the end. However, the track had only one fast groove and that was up top. #52 stuck to his line and despite many fun-to-watch attempts, Frailey was unable to get by underneath. Meanwhile, Hughes ran consistently fast laps up front to take the victory. Hughes isn't afraid to punish his engine - he's consistently running higher RPMs than any other racer out there. Great stuff!

Statistics

I've decided not to post anymore statistics for the remainder of this decision.

While they may look pretty, and seem informative... My database is completely lacking approximately 4 or 5 races... and 3 or 4 more are only partially added... due mainly in part to my inability to obtain a complete result listing from the track.

I will see about a way to guarantee a stream of race results for good stats next season.

September 22nd Race Discussion

Pure Stock Heat 1 - Hancock started on the pole with Lesa Vaughan on the outside.... They went 3 wide into turn 1. Randi Goins got spun in turn 2 but she kept it under speed. Lesa Vaughan got out to a sizeable lead on the first lap with Ricky Allen and Dale Hancock 10 car lengths behind. Meanwhile, Randi Goins ran some pretty fast laps off by herself after her spin-out recovery. On Lap 5, Ricky moved into 4th and battled his way past Hancock for 3rd. On the last lap Lee looked to the inside of Ricky Allen, but Allen had the momentum coming off the high side of turn and held on to the second spot. They finished: Vaughan, Allen, Mclain, Hancock.

Pure Stock Heat 2 - Jimmy Kirby and JD Jackson got together in turns 1 and 2 on the first lap which resulted in Kirby limping down the back straight. Before the yellow was thrown, the 7B got into the back of JD... but they avoided the wreck. (Video speaks volumes on this little sequence of events ...) On the restart, JD Jackson and the 7B made a little contact, but they stayed going forwards. Meanwhile, Russell Mclain worked his way through the field passing about a car every lap. On the 5th lap, he battled Emily Jackson for the lead and took it coming into turn 3. Russell took the win followed by Emily Jackson and Tulley Braden.

Factory Heat 1 - They were lined up: Gillian, Billy F, Badley, BJ F, Garman, Sugarbear, #56 (not Wagner), Morgan, and 1 other car. It looked like Gillian had trouble getting up to speed. That allowed Billy Frohnapfel to open up a big lead. Garman got spun in turn 3 on the first lap and the caution was thrown. On the restart, The flagman didn't like what he saw... though the fans sitting around me did. Either way, they had another restart. They got strung out after a lap... not much action. The black 56 had a hell of a time battling Sugarbear... he even smacked the wall pretty hard on the back straight. He didn't retaliate though and took third. Sugarbear took the 2nd spot and Billy took the commanding victory.

Factory Heat 2 - Morgan started on the pole followed by Campbell, Jerry Wagner, and Tommy Cantwell. Tommy Cantwell was on a mission as he got around Morgan for 3rd and tried to reel in Wagner in the lead. Meanwhile, the #92 made a double pass to take 4th and started working on Morgan for 3rd. He got around him after a couple laps and took a solid 3rd with Cantwell in 2nd and Wagner in 1st.

EMod Heat 1 - Womack started on the pole with Dilbeck on his outside. Ross started in the 4th spot. Womack took a 5 car-length lead by the 2nd lap. Womack developed a mechanical issue and dropped off the pace. Dilbeck took the lead as the #97 worked his inside. Dilbeck took the win followed closely by the #97.

EMod Heat 2 - Conley was in the #18 E-Mod giving it a test drive. With Wagner on the pole, they went green. The orange #8 took a sizeable lead followed by Northrup. They were pretty strung out most of the heat as the #8 took the win followed by Northrup.

EMod Heat 3 - Rodney Steddum started in the 3rd spot. After the first caution due to a slowed driver not getting off the track, they went green. The 17 got out front and stayed there to the finish. Steddum took 5th.

Modified Heat 1 - On the last turn of the last lap, one of the #91 black car got turned around. Meanwhile, the #91c Mike Mac was out front fending off one of the #4's and Brandon Morton in the #11. On the restart, Morton got a great jump and took the high side in turns 1 and 2, but Mac shut the door. They went 3 wide into turns 3 and 4, and the #1X moved into the lead. Morton worked his inside, and took the lead on the next lap. Meanwhile, Mac was looking strong in second looking to take 2nd back. A few laps later, Mac got turned around in 4, but they stayed green. By this time, Morton had a huge lead. Morton took the win.

Modified Heat 2 - Corky was on the pole with Crowe on his outside. On the start, Crowe got out to an early lead followed by Barbee and Wheeler. Barbee came up on his inside and took the position away as Crowe got a little high in 3. Wheeler squeezed by Crowe a lap or two later and started reeling in Barbee. Barbee broke down in turn 1 and came to a stop in turn 2. Crowe got high in 2 and got tapped one of the big tires as he went off the end.

Modified Heat 3 - Randy Frailey started on the outside of the front row with Jeran Frailey right behind him. Tate Cole started back in the 5th spot. Randy Frailey came out smoking and opened up a sizeable lead. Jeran quickly moved into 3rd. There was a small wreck involving Tate Cole, the 17, and one other driver. After a rain delay, Randy took the win followed by Jeran.

Modified Heat 4 - Allen Frailey was out front after a few laps. A caution came out when a car spun in turn 3. Right after the caution, Cates got high-centered in turn 4... the jeep Cherokee pushed him over though. He headed to the pits. On the restart, Allen Frailey got stranded on the high side as a car with illegible numbers and Greg Skaggs got underneath. (The number maybe have been 88, but it wasn't Wheeler). Skaggs tried to take the lead coming out of 4, but the 88? took 1st.

E-Mod Feature - Northrup started on the outside of the front row with the Orange #8 starting third. Ross started in 10th with Womack starting approximately 15th. They got the first lap in cleanly, though Womack pulled to the infield. Early on, Ross was stranded in traffic, but he starting making moves and moved up through the field. The #7 spun coming out of 2 and almost collided with Womack sitting on the infield... that brought out a caution. When they went green, The Orange #8 took the lead followed by the white #97. The 7 got hooked up on the back left corner of Dilbeck's machine and they went around in turn 1. Ross got jacked by the black #17 car as he had to slam his breaks resulting in several lost positions. And there was little surprise as that same car was involved in another wreck in turn 4 resulting in several cars getting together - including Ross who was knocked around. There was another black seventeen... I'll refer to him as the 'fast 17'... he's not the one wrecking cars back in the field. The #8 took the win by about 6 inches.

Modified B Feature - Allen Frailey took the win followed by #17 and Tate Cole.

Pure Stock Feature - Lesa Vaughan started up front along side Dale Hancock. Jessie Muhlhauser was on the 2nd row with the Mclains starting back in the 5th row. By the 2nd lap, Lesa Vaughan had around a straightaway lead followed by Vernon in 2nd, Muhlhauser in 3rd, and Hancock in 4th. Lee was stuck in traffic in 10th for a while, but quickly started moving his way forward once things thinned out. At lap 5, Vaughan was still out front and Ricky Allen battled Dale Hancock for 4th. Meanwhile, Jessie M. battled Vernon for 2nd. Jessie was showing great patience as Vernon was taking up the whole track. While I was watching the battle for 2nd, Lee had moved up into 4th. Jessie finally got his nose out front of Vernon which allowed him to take & hold the high line. Limited to the inside lane, Vernon fell back into 3rd... where he fond himself battling Lee Mclain. While all this way happening, Lesa was out front with an 1/8th mile lead. Lee got around Jessie and started working his way through Lap Traffic that Lesa had already made her way around. Lesa took the win followed by Lee & Muhlhauser.

Factory Feature - Gillian was on the pole with Billy Frohnapfel on his outside. The 82, who I'm going to code name 'psycho' went underneath in turn one and moved up a couple spots. He did a similar move on lap 3... it seems to be working for him. He goes so low that he actually has to turn right to miss the tire! Jerry Wagner ended up taking the win followed by the #82, Tommy Cantwell, and Billy Frohnapfel.

Modified Feature - Randy Frailey started up on the front row along side the 1x. Behind them were: Orange 54, 1/2, Jeran, Skaggs, Morton, and Wheeler. They didn't make it a lap as several cars got sides in turns 1 and 2. #71 and Tate Cole were involved. Frailey quickly moved into the lead followed by the 1x, Skaggs, and Morton. At about lap 8, Skaggs and Morton battled for 3rd directly behind the 1x. Frailey had a sizeable lead, but it was negated when a caution flew. On the restart, 1x had his hands full with Morton on his outside. Morton took 2nd and battled Randy Frailey for 1st. It was an awesome battle. Morton finally took randy's inside, but randy held his line as Brandon slid back to 2nd. They battled for quite a few laps with Randy maintaining 1st. The battle for 4th raged on between Skaggs and Wheeler. The 1x just kinda sat in third. Skaggs fell back to 5th, but put a great high to low move on Wheeler in turn 2. Wheeler took the spot back in turn 4. Wheeler, having moved back to 5th... put the exact same high-low move back on Skaggs as he retook 4th. On the last lap, Wheeler got around the 1x. Randy Frailey took a 10 car length victory followed by Morton, Wheeler, 1x, Skaggs, and Jeran Frailey.

Though we probably had more caution laps than green flag laps, there was some pretty good racing.

What can I say about tonight? It was crazy!

Pure Stock Heat 1 - Lesa Vaughan took the win followed by Lee Mclain.

Pure Stock heat 2 - Russell started in back, but moved up to third quickly. He nearly bit the dust in turn 2 when his hands slipped on the wheel, but he stayed on the gas and held onto it and kept going. On the next lap, he made a double pass to get around Goins & Vail. Russell took the win, Vail took 2nd, Goins took 3rd.

Factory Stock Heat 1 - Wagner started up front. Wagner, Cantwell, and Smith were running 1,2,3 at the first caution just a few laps in. Cantwell made his way around Wagner after the caution and took the win. Wagner took second and Smith took third. Cantwell ran the two fastest laps at 18.3 seconds.

Factory Heat 2 - Conley was in the #89 in place of Badley tonight. Conley's modified is in some state of repair after last week's racing. He adapted quick to the factory stock - he took the victory followed by Morgan in the 90.

E-Mod Heat 1 - 1 False Start. Collins started in 3rd. Rodney got out to a sizeable lead on the first lap as Collins moved into second. Collins caught up to within a few car lengths of Rodney by the third lap, but was unable to reel him all the way in. Rodney took the win followed by Collins. Collins ran the fastest lap at 17.455 seconds.

Now, regarding the E-Mods... I'm just going to apologize to whoever is driving the Yellow #2 car. I don't see who it is on the points listing, so I'm just going to refer to the in this update as "The Yellow #2"... no disrespect meant to the Yellow #2 team.

E-Mot Heat 2 - The Yellow #2 started up front along side Allen Steddum. On the first lap, Cagle made his way from 4th or 5th in to third behind Steddum. Ross got shuffled from 3rd back to 5th. Soon after, Cagle made his way into second, but the #2 was too fast for him. The #2 took the win followed by Cagle. Ross finished in 4th. The fastest car on the track was the #2, but I didn't have him on the program obtaining lap times. The fastest lap among Cagle, Ross, and Steddum was 17.9 by both Ross and Cagle.

Mod Heat 1 - Donnie Crowe made his way around #91 Mike Mac to move into the top spot. After three laps of racing, there was a bit of a pile-up in turns 3/4. After they went green, there was another spin over in 4. Turns 3 and 4 have been giving drivers trouble for a few weeks. On the restart, Crowe was still out front followed by Joey Vaughn and Mark Schaffitzel. Crowe got into turn 3 a little hot and was unable to bring it down as he had to bail out on the top side of the tires in turn 4. Joey Vaughn restarted in the lead. He and Schaffitzel battled for the win with Vaughn coming out victorious.

Modified Heat 3 - Paul Cates started on the front row in a new car. His previous ride was wrecked in the mechanics race last week. Jeran Frailey started in the 2nd row. Wheeler & Cole started from the rear. After a few laps, Jeran made his way into second with Cole right behind. Cates and Jeran battled for the lead the rest of the race with Cates inching him out at the line to take the victory. Cole took 2nd.

Pure Stock Feature - Lesa Vaughan started on the pole. On the start, they were three wide at the line. Russell Mclain quickly got shuffled to the back of the pack when Vernon Vail got a little high in turns 1 and 2. Meanwhile, Lee Mclain worked his way through the field. A caution came as a car spun in turn 4. On the restart, Lee was in second with Lesa up front. They got a couple laps in before the next caution. Russell Mclain managed to work his way into 2nd. On the restart, Lesa had to face the two silver bullets right behind her. Lesa opened up a bit of a lead as Russell and Lee ran side by side for several laps. A caution came out after a spin out on the front straight. On the restart, they were running: Vaughan, Lee, Russell, Tulley Braden, Emily Jackson. On the first or second lap after the restart, Randi Goins went over the edge in turns 3/4. Before the caution flew, Lee made his way into second ahead of Russell. On the last turn of the last lap, Lesa got a little loose and that gave Russell the chance to get around her on the top as he never lost momentum. Between 1st and 3rd, Russell, Lesa, and Lee were separated by about 1 car length at the finish line. Finishing order: Russell Mclain, Lesa Vaughan, Lee Mclain. Nice Racing!

Factory Stock Feature: The lineup: Campbell, Shoemaker, Cantwell, Morgan, Wagner, Garman, Smith, Scroggins, Conley... On the 1st try there was a 4 car pileup in turn 1. Cantwell moved into the lead in turn 1 on the first lap. Quickly, Wagner was challenging him for the lead, but got squeezed down low in turn 4 and was shuffled back to 6th or 7th. Scroggins got spun in turn 3 and had to restart from the rear. Wagner developed a flat somewhere in there, but he got it changed before the green. On the restart, Cantwell was out front followed by Morgan, Campbell, and Garman. They went 4-wide into 1 and everybody came out... don't ask me how! Morgan was challenging for the lead but got clipped which sent him loose... He spun causing a pile-up in turn 4. After a never-ending caution, Cantwell was out front followed by Conley in the 89 and Garman in the 51. A few laps later, Scroggins was all the way up to 3rd. Conley battled Cantwell for the lead for many laps, but Cantwell held on. Conley took 2nd and the #92 took third. It looked like Scroggins came in fourth. Nice Racing! Cantwell and Conley both ran a 19.7 for the fastest laps of the feature.

EMod Feature - A car with a number I couldn't read was up front... It may have been the #23 Hook. The Yellow #2 was in 2nd followed by Dilbeck, Rodney Steddum, Allen Steddum, #35 Pitts, Davin Blake, Larry Cagle, Montgomery, Northrup, Collins, and a few more. Ross was starting way back in 16th or 17th. Allen Steddum got up into the wall hard on the back straight. Ross spun to avoid him, and another car got into both of them. It was a mess and took a long time to clean up, but Ross stayed out on the track. On the restart, The Yellow #2 was out front followed by Rodney Steddum, Hook, Pitts, Cagle, Montgomery, Northrup, and Collins. They didn't quite get a lap in when Pitts got spun in 3/4. Several laps after the restart, Montgomery moved past the Yellow #2 to take over the lead. Rodney Steddum went high in turn 4 and made contact with a tire. On the restart, Montgomery was out front followed by The Yellow #2, and the white #2 Collins. Montgomery took 1st followed by Collins, the #66, and the #45.

Again, I'm just going to have to apologize to whoever is running that white/black car which I think has a 1X on it. I do have one complaint though - your number is hard as hell to read! All in good fun... Also, Whoever was in the plain #4 car which the #4 painted on the back of the car... I have no idea who was driving. There's a good chance it was Barbee with a new set of body armor... but I'm clueless. It's hard to keep up with so many cars & drivers!

Morton was in the lead running in the low 18's (shredding the rubbery track). He was followed by Schaffitzel, Vaughn, Jeran Frailey, 1x, Cates, Cole, and Allen Frailey. A Yellow was thrown with Morton up front followed by the 1x and Tate Cole in the #89. Morton was throwing down some serious lap times, gaining about 3 tenths of a second per lap over Tate Cole in third. On the restart, Allen Frailey made a move under the 1x for 3rd, but slid a bit high and the 1x moved back by. On the caution, Allen Frailey hopped out of his car to inspect the damage incurred trying to get by the 1x. Apparently something was wrong with it, he had to be pushed to the pits. Their order: Morton, 1x, Cole, Vaughn, 4. After another neverending caution due to a car having to be towed off of pit road, they went green! They finished: Morton, Cole, 1x, Vaughn, 4, Cole, #54, Jeran Frailey. Nice racing!

Sorry for the slow update! Busy week for me!

Pure Stock Heat 1- After an initial restart due to a spinout, Vernon Vail & Lee Mclain battled down low in 1 & 2, they had to check up a bit which sent JD Jackson high in 1/2. Lee Mclain and Rickey Allen moved up into 2nd and 3rd but were unable to get around Vaughan who took the heat win.

Pure Stock Heat 2 - Dale & Bobby Jack Potts started on the front row followed by Jessie Muhlhauser and Russell Mclain on the 2nd row. The X, 7b, 22s, and 721 were right behind. Soon after the start, Bobby Jack Potts and Russell Mclain were up front battling for the lead. The battle lasted all the way to the last lap. On the back straight, they were side-by-side as they came up on some lap traffic. Potts and the traffic were both on the outside, so he had to get off the gas which gave Russell the victory with Potts in second. Nice racing!

Pure Stock Feature - Early on, the X (John Cook) got into JD Jackson... and the 22s & X broke down after a wreck in turns 1/2. Lee broke down & Bobbie Jack Potts went over the end of one of the turns. Lesa started on the pole... and she maintained the lead until Russell made his way to second. They battled for at least 5 laps. It appeared that Russell was able to get on her bumper, but didn't have enough to get past her. Lesa Vaughan took the win followed by Russell Mclain, Ricky Allen, and Jessie Muhlhauser. Also, congratulations to Ricky Allen on his first Pure Stock victory over at Siloam!

Factory Heat 2 - No notes!

Factory Feature - #12 Hughes was on the pole. He got held up on the back straight (missed a shift or something) and Tommy Cantwell went sky high when he made contact with him. Amazingly, Tommy's car kept going. On the Restart, Cantwell moved up through the field into third. Towards the end of the feature, he was right on Steve Smith's bumper trying to move into second. BJ Frohnapfel was out in front. Tommy made a great move on the inside of Smith coming out of 2 with a few laps to go to take over 2nd. However, there was only 1 lap left, not enough time for Cantwell to catch up to BJ as BJ Frohnapfel took the victory followed by Cantwell and Smith.

E-Mod Feature - They were lined up in this order: Dilbeck, Allen Steddum, Rodney Steddum, Travis Montgomery, Davin Blake, Larry Cagle, Mike Northrup, 6, Ross... and a few others I think. Over the first 9 laps, Allen Steddum maintained the lead while Northrup battled his way up to second. Ross had a spinout - it looked like he may have had a tire going low (he made contact with other drivers at least 3 times where it wasn't his doing). Ross had to restart from the rear with about 6 to go. During a three way battle for the lead, Northrup made contact with the tire in turn 2 which ripped his left front wheel off. He was understandably upset as he was headed for the lead. The yellow number 2 and Cagle got into some kind of altercation in 1 which resulted in Cagle pulling to the infield. At this point, Ross had worked his way up to 5th from the rear. With the white flag out, The #6 car got into the tires in turn 4, so they flew the yellow which 1 lap yet to go. Collins took the win by a hair at the finish from Montgomery who took 2nd. Ross made a pass for third on the last lap and Allen Steddum took 4th. Congratulations to the #2 team on their victory - it was a long time coming!

On the first caution Skaggs was out front followed by, Cates, Barbee, Morton, and Hughes. Schaffitzel got into somebody and had to be towed bringing out another caution. On the restart, two cars got locked up before they even got to the start/finish line... which resulted in yet another caution. Conley, the 25, and one of the #4's got into it in turns 1 and 2. Meanwhile, Hughes made his way up to 3rd with Morton 4th and Jeran 5th. Skaggs and Barbee were running 1 and 2. Hughes moved up to 2nd and challenged Skaggs for the lead, but Skaggs held on. Jeran moved past Morton into 4th, but with one lap to go Morton took 4th back. They finished: Skaggs, Hughes, Barbee, Morton, Jeran, Holzkemper, Cole, Allen Frailey.

#7 Pure Stock driven by Jessie Muhlhauser

Jessie Muhlhauser (one of my personal favorites) who took 4th last week at Salina, drove from 31st to 6th in the Feature out at Outlaw. Nice job Jessie!

#38 E-Mod driven by Jeremy Ross

Jeremy Ross took his 13th win of the season at the highbanks. Lately, he's been racing at other tracks.. and improving every time. At Outlaw, which has some of the stiffest E-Mod competition in Oklahoma, Jeremy took 4th on Saturday. Then, he raced at Crawford County in the TEMS race and took 3rd with no brakes. Nice work!

Pure Stock Heat 1 Posted Lineup: #721 Brad Rott, #92 Jay Wheeler, #22s Steve Echols, #2b Kirby, #23 Emily Jackson, #26 Seth Anderson, #6 Russell Mclain, #96 Bobby Jack Potts.

They all got strung out pretty far early on with Russell up front, Bobby Jack Potts in 2nd, Emily Jackson in third, and Seth Anderson in 4th. They finished that way.. I don't think there was any passing during the last 4 or 5 laps.

Pure Stock Heat 2 Posted Lineup: 24v Lesa Vaughan, #10 JD Jackson, #91 Dale Hancock, #7 Jessie Muhlhauser, #400 Vernon Vail, #35 Ricky Allen, #33 Lee Mclain.

This was a crazy heat. Early on, Vernon Vail was proving tough to pass as Lee and Vernon made contact. Eventually Lee did make it by. Later on, Lee was attempting a pass on the low side of JD Jackson but got a little tight as his front end started pushing up the track. This forced JD up and he went off the track in turn two. He went off FAST! Unfortunately for Dale Hancock (#91), he was right in the path of Jackson and Jackson absolutely plowed into the back part of his car. It broke something on Dale's car as the happy hooker had to service him.

I can only imagine what was going through Dale's mind before the crash.

"d**n car broke again... man I shoulda worked on it last night instead of watching the Chuck Norris marathon.... This sure is a long pit road... BAM!!!!! what the #$#$ was that?"

hehe, just kidding Dale... but I bet that was a hell of a surprise!

Jessie Muhlhauser took the heat victory followed by Ricky Allen with a solid finish in 2nd, Lee in 3rd, and Vernon in 4th.

Pure Stock Feature: Lesa Vaughan started on the pole, again, with an unknown car in 2nd, JD Jackson in 3rd, Kirby 4th, Jessie M. 5th, Emily Jackson 6th, somebody 7th, Seth Anderson 8th, Ricky Allen 9th, Russell Mclain 10th, and Lee Mclain 11th.

One thing of importance was that Lesa Vaughan was running a different engine tonight... it sounded normal and she was running the same speed as everybody else. Whether or not she was legal last week, that's not my concern. My concern is that I like to see close racing, and that's what we got to see tonight!

Back to the race, After the first caution, Lesa was out front followed by Emily Jackson and Seth Anderson. At the next caution, Russell had moved into 2nd with Emily in third and Lesa up front. Somewhere in here, Lee put a pass on Emily Jackson... but there was a little revenge to be had on behalf of all Chevy's and her brother as Emily Jackson gave Lee a love tap which spun him out on the front straight. Lesa took 1st, Russell 2nd, Emily 3rd, Jessie Muhlhauser 4th, and Ricky Allen 5th.

Factory Stock Heat 1 posted lineup: 63 Campbell, 5 BJ Frohnapfel, #69, #51 Garman, #86 Scroggins, #12, and #42. BJ took the win followed by Campbell. Billy Frohnapfel and BJ Frohnapfel were having trouble with BJ's car, so Billy has been letting BJ run his car... that's the reason BJ's car looks strangely like Billy's!

Factory Stock Heat 2 posted lineup: #89 Badley, #19 Cantwell, #90 Morgan, #56 Wagner, #34s Steve Smith, and #3m. Tommy took the win followed by Wagner and Smith.

Factory Stock Feature: #69 started on the pole followed by Badley, BJ, Tommy, somebody, Wagner, Garman, Smith, and Scroggins. This was the feature of many cautions. First off, Garman and #69 got together and Garman went off turn 1. On the restart, I have Wagner in the lead with Scroggins and Campbell right behind. After another caution due to #69 and Smith getting together, BJ moved into the lead followed by Wagner and Cantwell. Scroggins was looking good as he worked his way into second. He took a solid 2nd behind BJ Frohnapfel up front with Wagner in 3rd, Cantwell 4th, and Smith in 5th.

E-Mod Heat 1 - Posted Lineup: #91 Michael Graham, #98x Rodney Steddum, #823 Travis Montgomery, #11 Larry Cagle, #2 Mike Collins, #85 Tully Braden, #71 Wagner. Collins worked hard to make a pass on Rodney Steddum (last week's winner) and took 2nd place behind Montgomery. Rodney took 3rd.

E-Mod Heat 2 - #53, #35 Pitts, #000 Blake, #67 Northrup, #38 Ross, and #1 somebody. Northrop was absolutely shredding the track. I spoke to him after the heat... he said it was partly a cleaned-up carburetor and part driver. Sometimes all it takes is a rough week to get you motivated to get out on the track and whoop some ass. That's exactly what he did as he took a solid heat victory followed by a fast Ross in 2nd.

E-Mod Feature: Rodney Started up front followed by Pitts, Montgomery, Blake, Cagle, Northrup, Collins, Ross, #1, somebody, #71, and somebody else. Collins never got up to speed when the green was thrown as he headed to the pits. His night was over. On the restart, Northrup continued his speedy ways as he performed a double pass at the end of lap 1. Shortly after, he worked his way into the lead. Ross worked his way up into second and began challenging Northrup for the lead. As Ross was peaking underneath, Ross got a little loose in turns 3 and 4 and spun. Ross took and maintained the lead to the end. To Northrop's credit, he was still extremely fast and worked his way up into 4th by the end of the race. Ross: 1st, Montgomery 2nd, Rodney Steddum 3rd, Northrop 4th, Blake 5th, Pitts 6th.

Modified Heat 1: Ramm, Allen Frailey, Joey Vaughn, Holzkemper, Skaggs, Hughes, and somebody (85?). Skaggs was looking inside on the first lap and had his front end hopping up and down as he kept slamming the breaks with slower cars in front of him. Holzkemper continued his fast ways as he moved into the lead. Hughes was looking fast and took 2nd with Skaggs taking 3rd.

I heard Hughes was in town dialing in a new ride... it didn't look very new by the end of the feature!

Modified Heat 2: Cates, Crowe, Jeran Frailey, 21x Jared Havens, #89 Tate Cole, #2m ???, #54 Dena Wilson. After 1 false start (looked good to me), they restarted and Crowe moved into the lead followed by Jeran and Cole. Jeran managed to hold off Tate Cole and maintained his 2nd place finish with Crowe taking the win.

Modified Heat 3 posted lineup: #7w Rick Wallis, #51 Invisible Frailey (he didn't show due to work issues), #4 Barbee, #11 Morton, #57 Conley, and #8 (Robert Ryan I think?). Morton took a solid victory followed by Barbee, Conley, and Wallis.

Modified Feature: Crazy Feature! Cates started on the pole, again, followed by #7, #37 Allen Frailey, #20 Crowe, #38 Jeran Frailey, #4 Barbee, #5 Holzkemper, #11 Morton, #27j Skaggs, #89 Cole, somebody I couldn't see, and Hughes.

Hughes started off fast as hell, but was stuck behind two other fast teammates in Skaggs and Cole. They, in turn, were stuck in traffic and having difficulty moving forwards. #11 Morton and #12 Hughes made contact at least 3 times as Hughes was trying to get past. During this, #5 Holzkemper was up front battling Allen Frailey and Frailey was holding on without losing too much ground to Cates up front.

After an early caution, here was the lineup: 07, 7, 37, 5, 89, 27, 20, 11, 12, 4. On the restart of a second caution, Hughes got into the back of Skaggs and Conley was caught up in the wreckage. Conley was out for the night and it took a while to get Skaggs and Hughes unhooked.

After they went green, we got to see Barbee run into Crowe 2 or 3 times as he was trying to get by. I didn't see what happened, but I heard Crowe got into the wall which brought out a caution. Crowe was black flagged for something... maybe for not going to the back of the field. Barbee was black flagged for rough driving, and Hughes headed to the pits with something broken on his car. He got it fixed, but about 20 seconds short as they were already green when he got back to the track.

Cates held onto the lead and took another victory for the 07 team followed by Holzkemper in 2nd, Allen Frailey in 3rd, #89 Cole in 4th, #11 Morton in 5th, Joey Vaughn 6th, and Jeran Frailey 7th.

Drama at the high banks

A word about the drama:

The Flag Man confronted Larry Cagle in front of everybody at the driver's meeting. That was the first bit of drama... which kinda started things off a little 'diffferent'. Then there was the whole thing with Robert Adair, Lee Mclain, and Brannon Holman.

I choose not to write negative things about people. I think that having a reporter position at the Highbanks... it is important to stay relatively neutral or positive in most peoples' opinions. I've had nothing but an enjoyable time speaking with the Mclains, Holman, and Adair this entire season.

Any great details that I post about the events last week can be construed as negative towards one of these people. All I can say is that I honestly enjoy speaking with all of them - I learn a lot about racing, the track, and the cars by talking with each of them - and they have all been nothing but polite to me. I think I'm on pretty good terms with everybody, so I'd like to make sure there is no confusion and I'll just say nice things!

I look forward to seeing some good racing from everybody in the future.

August 25th Race Discussion

My update will be a little light this week for a few reasons. I spent a few hours battling my video converter & editing the video, watching the drama unfold at the track kept me from keeping notes half the time, and I'll be pretty darn busy this week!

The video will be posted by this evening. It is another big one.

Pure Stock Heat 1: Lesa Vaughan opened up a half-track lead after only 2 or 3 laps and won the heat easily. Vernon Vail took 2nd and Kirby took 3rd.

pure Stock Heat 2: This heat is where the second half of the drama began. I believe on lap 2 Lee Mclain was spun out after contact with #81 Robert Adair. After they went green again, Adair got held up in traffic and Mclain got into the back of him. Unfortunately, this sent the front end of Adairs car to the right and he made contact with the wall - sending him into a roll. He was okay... but his car was totalled. I have video of Lee's spin (Not Adair's roll, but I did get his car after the fact).

Factory Stock Heat 1 - I believe Jerry Wagner took this one. I spent most of the time observing the drama.

Factory Stock Heat 2 - No idea...
drama.

E-Mod Heat 1 - I Videod most of this one. I believe Rodney Steddum took the victory.

E-Mod Heat 2 - Don't remember.... drama...

Modified Heat 1 - Cates was shredding the track, but I believe it was #11 Brandon Morton who got around him. I think Morton won... not positive though.

Modified Heat 2 - #27 Skaggs was blazing a trail. I got most of his laptimes labeled on the video. He started out in the 18's in traffic, sped up to the 17's as he was making his way to the front, and got down to the low 16's out on his own. wow! He took the win followed by #5 Holz...

Modified Heat 3 - Spent most of this one with the camera aimed at Randy Frailey. He was running pretty quick, though he seemed to have trouble gripping the track in turns 3/4. However, he was running some impressive lap times down into the low 17's (as seen on the video that will be posted). Randy took the win followed by Chad Wheeler in his 88 who was rubbing a tire coming out of the turns.

Pure Stock Feature - Lesa Vaughan started on the pole and opened up a half track lead which was quickly erased by a yellow flag. Lesa took an easy victory followed by #26 Seth Anderson, Ricky Allen, and Vail.

Factory Feature - Campbell started up front. Apparently I leaked one of my drinks on the paper at this point and the rest is smeared. However, after looking at the video is appears that Jerry Wagner took the victory. Nice job!

E-Mod Feature - Well... I'm lacking most of my notes too here, but I do have some! Jeremy Ross had difficulty in traffic. He was still towards the back half way through the race. Rodney Steddum was riding up front followed by Montgomery who spent most of his time battling Northrup. It's hard to decipher who was where in the video, because I think they stayed green the entire race. Ross did start moving up through the field passing one car after another, but it appears that he dropped off the track on the last lap. I'm not sure what happened, but I'll let you know if I find out. I THINK Rodney took the victory followed by Montgomer and Northrup, but I'm not positive since they were strung out so much!

Modified Feature - #22 Corky Ramm and #07 Cates started on the front row followed by 3 Fraileys in the next 4 cars. Skaggs was nearly as fast as he was in the heats, and our previous week's winner #5 Holzkemper got his car dialed in again. Skaggs took the victory followed by Holzkemper, Cates, Jeran Frailey, Randy Frailey, Morton, and Allen Frailey. (I think!)

As you can see... my descriptions of the races suffer when I am taking video. I have extreme difficulty remembering things, so I have to take notes like crazy if I am to do a good write-up after the races. So let me know which is more enjoyable: Video + Short Write-up or an extensive write-up.

August 18th video

This video is LARGE .. 251 megabytes. On a dial-up modem you could expect it to take approximately 20.9 hours to download. It will be significantly shorter on DSL, CABLE, or other fast internet.

Note: I did not have time to edit this video - so there is no text, and all heats and features are in the same video. Generally, I taped the 1st and last lap of most of the heats, and the 'best' 5 minutes of every feature.

I Highly suggest following these rules:

2. Press "Save Target As"
3. Choose your desktop
4. Go do something else (like sleep all night) while it downloads
5. Watch the video after it has been downloaded!

August 18th - Modified Feature

Lost my notes... so I'm going by memory here!

Unfortunately I don't remember much!

At the halfway mark #5 Holzkemper was out front with #27 Skaggs in 2nd. (Pretty sure it was skaggs... blue car). They battled for many laps with #51 Frailey and #91 Duval riding it out in 3rd and 4th. Second to last lap... Holzkemper pulled away and Frailey battled Skaggs for 2nd... but came up about a half car length short at the line. Tate Cole managed to move up into 4th pushing Duval back into 5th. Nice work Holzkemper!

August 18th E-Mod

Still working on the video camera - taking it to the store tomorrow morning!

E-Mod Heat 1: The track was very tacky at this point - those e-mods were flying around the track. Montgomery took the victory followed by Northrup and Rodney Steddum. I'd have to say Northrup was the fastest on the track with Montgomery a close second... man those guys were fast.

E-Mod Heat 2: Ross had some traffic issues, but made his way up front. Within 1 lap he had a straight-a-way lead. Steddum took 2nd and Blake took 3rd I think. Blake lead most of the heat - nice job!

E-Mod feature: Rodney Steddum on the pole, unknown 2nd, Montgomery third, unknown fourth, Cagle 5th, Wagner 6th, Northrup 7th, Ross 8th, Somebody 9th, and Collins 10th. Rodney Steddum went off the track. Ross was running fast, once again, and took a solid victory. Montgomery also had his car setup right - he took 2nd. Northrup finished in the top 3 once again and took 3rd. Nice racing!

Once again, as soon as I can get the video into computer format I'll post it! I'm hoping the camera people at the store can help me!

Good News - I took the video

Bad News - I broke the button my camera to 'finalize' the video on the mini-dvd. I will take the camera to the store tomorrow - maybe they can fix the camera and/or finalize the DVD for me. I have to finalize it before I can get it into a computer format.

August 18th Factory Stock

Factory Heat 1: Jerry Wagner jumped out to an early lead followed by #541 Billy Frohnapfel. Billy was having some car issues as he dropped back. Campbell moved up into 2nd, Morgan third, and #15 Shoemaker fourth.

Factory Heat 2: Mike Badley started on the pole with Tommy Cantwell starting on his outside. Brian Scroggins, BJ Frohnapfel, and Steve Smith were right behind. Sugarbear (Scroggins) quickly moved into the lead as BJ Frohnapfel spun in turn 4 (He may have had help). Scroggins took first and Cantwell took second.

Factory Feature: #89 Mike Badley started on the pole followed by Campbell, #26 John Harris, #15 Shoemaker, #56 Jerry Wagner, Tommy Cantwell, Mike Morgan, Sugarbear, BJ Frohnapfel, Steve Smith, #541 Billy Frohnapfel, and I think Mark Garman brought up the rear. #69 Eckles was also in the field - on the initial restart.. he blew something in the cooling system and came to a stop. Soon after, Larry McCoy went off turn 1 bringing out another caution. Badley was still in the lead followed by Campbell, Cantwell, Wagner, and Morgan. Badley had to chase his car up high in turns 3/4 and that allowed Campbell, Cantwell, and Wagner to get underneath. Towards the end of the race, Sugarbear came alive and made three passes to take first place which he held until the end. Wagner took 2nd, Campbell third, and Steve Smith 4th.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Robert Adair - He's a cool guy! I've enjoyed watching him race.. and I'm glad to see the track officials allow previous pure stock champions back.

Pure Stock Heat 1: #91 Dale Hancock ran away with this one - he was fast! #81 Robert Adair made his way up into second with Vail taking 3rd. Fastest Car on the track: #91 Hancock

Pure Stock Heat 2: There was a great battle up front between Allen, Kirby, and #26 Seth Anderson. For some reason I didn't write down who finished first... I'm pretty sure it was Allen or Kirby though! I'll have it on the video I post later this week. I video'd the first and last lap of most of the heats. I believe it was #26 Anderson who came out after the Modified feature - he took about 15-20 laps. He was trying all kinds of different lines. Look for him to be fast next week! Fastest car on the track: Ricky Allen

Pure Stock Heat 3: Lee Mclain started 5th, and Vaughan started near the back too. Half way through the feature, JD Jackson was leading followed by Lee and Lesa. Lesa worked her way into the lead... she was running fast! Lee took second and Jessie Muhlhauser moved up to third. Fastest car on the track: Vaughan

Pure Stock Feature: The line-up was roughly: JD, Hancock, Anderson, Emily Jackson, Vail, Muhlhauser, Lee Mclain, Ricky Allen, #911 Smith, Adair, #5 Marshall, Vaughan, and 5 more... big field. I got the last half of an early crash by the 9x John Worsham car. I think he got up into the wall.. then came down at an ackward angle... it was ackward enough that it complete dislodged his engine which landed next to the car. That took a while to clean up! Pretty soon, #33 Mclain made his way into the lead and #81 Adair was right behind him. They spent the last half of the race battling for the lead, but Lee was able to hold him off. Congratulations to Lee on another victory and to Robert Adair on 2nd. I also have written down that JD Jackson went off the end of the track on the last lap - I guess he was trying to pick up a spot or two before the checkered flag... Hopefully I have that on video! Unfortunately for Ricky Allen, he got spun early in the feature and went down 2 laps before a caution was thrown. He made his way up through the field, but remained 2 laps down. I see that Jason Hughes won last week... and Allen Frailey came in second. Congratulations to both of them - especially Allen on his best finish of the season!

Also congrats to Tommy Cantwell - looks like he's got that orange machine running quick like it was early in the season. Is that two weeks in a row that he's won?

Looks like Ross & Lee Mclain took another victory as well - I believe that is around 11 for Ross?

I'm on Vacation

Guess what? No stats posted for last week's races... so the driver database is even more incorrect now. I honestly don't know what else I could possibly do. I wish I could write down every finishing spot... but I can't write that fast! The best I can do is use the results they DO post. I tried asking them nicely for previous week's results in person earlier in the season. Sometimes they were very nice about it, sometimes they weren't (when it became a habit). The reason that it became a habit wasn't really in my hands... catch my drift? This is a hobby of mine. Hobbies are fun. I'm not going to go and pull teeth every Friday to A. Get in the pits and B. Get results for the previous week. Hell, a couple weeks ago I posted a warning on the forums that the results they posted were incorrect. Not only did nobody from the track acknowledge the post, they printed the programs wrong, put them in the Daily Times wrong, and announced the previous weeks's winners wrong at the intermission. Why am I ranting about this? A. I'm ranting about this because I am responsible for the content on this blog. B. I am a perfectionist and I hate to be associated with shoddy work or products. C. I'm childishly pointing fingers at other people for the poor quality of my work... but hey, it makes me feel better!

If anybody would be so kind as to write down the top 3 finishers in the features and send them to me, I would really appreciate it! I'll post your name and give you full credit. I'll be away until August 20th.

Disclaimer

July 28th results are incorrect because the track never gave Modified Results (They left the results from July 21st for Modifieds)

August 4th results are non-existent. The track never posted them.

Several races from earlier in the season are non-existent because the track never posted the results.

I have manually updated the stats the best I could, but that is particularly hard to do when I wasn't able to attend the races in question.

These are "roughly" up to date as of July 28th.

I've left emails / private messages for Dawn and Paula regarding stats and reporting on drivers and stuff in the pits... and I've gotten no reply. So all I can do is wait and ask them in person, again, when I get back.

A word about the statistics...

I'll update the stats when the August 4th results are posted.

I'm pretty disappointed... The full results were not posted from the week before. I posted for about a week straight trying to get it straightened out... but it was a no go. I have no modified results for that week. I'll update it manually the best I can (The finishing spots i wrote down on paper).

There was also a period earlier in the season where there were no reliable results for 3 consecutive weeks. I update the database the best I could manually... but some things went missing. At the track they said that Jeremy Ross got his 10th victory. The database currently only shows him at 8 victories... that's probably due to the inconsistent results I've been able to get.

If anybody knows of a way that I could get a more reliable feed of finishing spots at the Salina track.. please let me know. It seems almost pointless to me to track driver statistics when 10-15% of the results are missing. The whole point of statistics is to provide accurate information.

August 4th Race Discussion

Here's my quick update (I'm short on time):

Pure Stock Heat 1: JD Jackson on the pole with Adair starting 5th, Vail 4th, and Lee 7th. Lee took the win followed by Adair and Willis.

Pure Stock Heat 2: Russell Mclain started 3rd, Ricky Allen 4th, and Harris 5th. Mclain spun twice in this heat... turns 3/4 were causing problems for a lot of drivers.

Pure Stock Feature: JD was on the front row along-side Seth Anderson. Vail started 7th, Ricky Allen 8th, Lee 9th, and Robert Adair and Russell Mclain somewhere close to the rear. JD Jackson spun on the initial start, so he got his spot back and they restarted. Hancock in the #91 took the easy victory. Congratulations to him... his first win of the season and possibly his career. Lee took 2nd, #3 took 3rd, Russell 4th, Vail 5th, Ricky 6th, and Adair 7th.

Factory Heat: Campbell was on the pole. Campbell and Morgan spun early on in 3/4. After the restart, there was another spin in 3/4. Steve Smith took the win.

Factory Feature: Campbell was on the pole followed by Tommy Cantwell. Cantwell took a victory. Nice job for having taken several weeks off!

E-Mod Heat 1: Wagner was on the pole, Ross 5th. Flock took the win followed by Ross and Wagner.

E-Mod Heat 2: Womack started 2nd, Dilbeck on the pole. Womack took an easy victory.

E-Mod Heat 3: Allen Steddum on the pole, Cagle 2nd, Rodney Steddum 3rd. Cagle took the victory followed by Northrup in 2nd.

E-Mod Feature: Great Feature... 3 very fast cars on the track in Ross, Flock, and Womack. Any one of them had a great chance at winning. Flock got turned over on the front straight. Unfortunately, his car rotated so that he was not rolling down the track... his car was rolling but his car was almost parallel to the track. That caused some huge impacts... but I hear he's doing fine. He said his safety equipment worked well. Womack was up front with Ross when Womack lost momentum coming out of turn 2. Allen Steddum ran up onto the back of him. This left Ross with little competition as he took the victory followed by the #77 and Wagner.

Modified Heat 1: Duval was on the pole, Watts 3rd, Joey Vaughn 4th. Fulton took the win followed by Teague.

Modified Heat 2: Barbee took the easy victory. It was nice to see Hice Lacoe back on the track.

Modified Heat 3: Cates on the pole followed by Crowe. Cates took the win followed by Wheeler, Skaggs, and Randy Frailey.

Modified Feature: Randy Frailey put a pass on #91 Duval after battling him for 3-5 laps. No contact was made, but it was close. However, the battle did last 3-5 laps and it was clear Frailey was the faster car. This didn't stop Duval from getting upset though - He rammed Frailey in turn 1 causing them both to spin. Tempers were flaring when they both came around to the front straight. I think Frailey was complimenting Duval on his chocolate cookie recipe or something (I couldn't hear). After ramming each other a few times side-by-side... Frailey went into turn 1 and Duval proceeded to ram into the back of him a few times. Frailey did something funny - he slammed on the breaks. Duval was black flagged and Frailey may or may not have been - I didn't see the flag fly... but he left the track anyway. It is my personal opinion that if a faster car passes a slower car, and no contact is made... there's really no reason for the slower car to retaliate. That's just my opinion though.

Aside from that drama... After approximately 452 cautions.. Skaggs and Wheeler were up front battling for the lead. Wheeler emerged victorious followed by Skaggs and Paul Cates who may have been running some new equipment. Cates looked very fast early in the season... the he slowed for a while, and he was fast again on Friday. I have no idea what his equipment situation is... but it looked like he was in the same car as he was early in the season. Who knows...

August 4th Race Discussion

I don't have time to do my full update now... but here's my comments:

Regarding Modified Feature:

#91 Duval vs. #51 Frailey. Frailey had faster car. Frailey battled Duval for 3-5 laps. Frailey put a pass on Duval without hitting him, but it was close. Duval got pissed, despite the fact that the faster car passed him. Duval wrecked Frailey purposely in turns 1/2. I don't understand why Duval gets so pissed off when he gets passed by a faster car... is it just because he was running up front?

Am I missing anything?

(personal comment - Ya i like Frailey better... but do you see Frailey wrecking people when he gets passed? He gets bumped around all the time)

Regarding E-Mod feature - Anybody know how bad Kevin Flock was hurt? Usually rolls aren't so bad in a modified... but he was rolling at a very strange angle that caused some serious forces to be exerted on Flock. I heard a story from a lady that her grand son was racing modifieds at outlaw motor speedway. He wrecked very hard into a wall and was hurt. Kevin Flock ran out and got into his car with him... keeping him calm, telling him not to move... keeping him company while he was in pain and scared. The lady told me that she will always remember that, and I think it really says something about the kind of guy Flock is. I've not had a chance to meet him - but I hope he's okay.

What happened tonight?

- No announcer tonight
- Worst E-Mod Restart-under-caution in history
- Randy Frailey didn't hit the back wall
- un-Fan-Friendly White-Checkered restart from caution for modified feature
- 5 Cars in Factory - Dash for Cash

Pure Stock Heat 1: They started: Goins, Muhlhauser, Lee Mclain, Bias. Lee quickly made his way into the lead (surprise! haha). I was very pleased to see Robert Adair back out on the track - he's one of my favorites. He was a little slow for his first few laps, but really got up to speed later. Lee won, followed by #81 Robert Adair, Vail, and Bias.

Pure Stock Heat 2: The JACKSONS started 1 and 2 =) Ricky Allen was starting 4th, with Russell Mclain somewhere in the mix. Ricky had a little trouble making passes - he was fast out of the turns, but had to really slow it down coming into the turns... I'm guessing his car was a bit on the tight side. Russell made his way into the lead followed by JD Jackson (he got his car repaired after last weeks crash!) and Ricky in third. They finished in that order.

Did you ever play the arcade game "Off Road"? If so, you probably remember the NITRO button. Well, I think Russell found his nitro button because he went crazy on that last lap and made 2 passes for the lead. Nice job!

Pure Stock Feature: JD started on the pole, Goins 2nd, Emily Jackson third, Muhlhauser 4th, Ricky 7th, Lee 8th, Russell 9th, Bias 10th. Their first attempt at a start didn't work out... it was total chaos (I think everybody had a round of shots before the race). After the alcohol wore off (it had time to wear off because they were yellow for like 10 laps), they went green on their second try. I think the long time under yellow was bad for Lee Mclain's car, because his a white gas erupted from under his hood. It could have been smoke, but I think it was most likely steam from overheating. Some cars don't do well at idle speeds - They need airflow to keep the engine cool. On the restart, Emily Jackson was out front followed by Ricky Allen. Ricky made his way into the lead shortly thereafter. Ricky went a little high up in turn 3/4 and Russell Mclain stuck his nose underneath. The high line wasn't workin tonight, so Ricky was stranded as Russell and Adair moved underneath. Russell took the victory followed by Robert Adair and Ricky Allen. Nice Race!

Factory Heat - One Heat, 5 cars... what's going on? Campbell started and finished out front.. he was fast. Brian Scroggins was inventing new lines... fun to watch as always.

Factory Dash for Cash - I guess the winner takes all? Anyway.. Campbell started in front and opened up a huge lead. Tommy Cantwell was challenging Brian Scroggins and was tailgating.. Brian got off the gas a bit more than Tommy expected resulting in Tommy spinning out. Steve Smith took the lead from Campbell on the last lap for the victory.

E-Mod Heat 1: "A car" on the track had issues on lap 1 and casually rolled to a stop beginning in turn 1 and ending near the end of the back straight forcing a caution. Anybody have a comment on this? Anyway... Despite having difficulty swinging the back end out entering the turns... Larry Cagle took the lead near the end and won the heat.

E-Mod Heat 2: This one was fun to watch. Travis Montgomery and Jeremy Ross battled for 4-5 laps until Montgomery's equipment gave out. Sorry for the car Travis, but thanks for the great show - VERY FUN TO WATCH! Jeremy took the easy victory.

E-Mod Feature: Ross made his way into the lead on lap 1... I'm not sure where he started because I was just getting out of the restroom (oops!). At this point, Northrup was in 2nd and Cagle in third. I believe it was the 7 car that got turned around in turn 4... and Ross's huge lead was negated (he had more than a straight-a-way lead!). After 3 more cautions due to people spinning out repeatedly, Ross took an easy victory followed by Northrup and Cagle. As a fitting tribute to the way this feature went... 2 cars spun out bad enough they went over the hill in turns 3/4.

Ok... time for another breakaway tangent... What did you guys think about the restart under caution in the E-Mods? The first attempt was called a false start. Naturally, they were all jumbled up on the back straight. They didn't even get back to caution-speed until turn 3. About the time they where entering turn 3, the caution light went out. However, they were seriously jumbled up and spaced out. That didn't change when they entered turn 4. I think every one of the drivers was thinking "Umm.... no light means go right? wait... we're all out of synch here... oh crap Ross went I gotta step on it!" That's what it looked like. They were spaced out all the way from turn 4 to turn 1, but they stayed green anyway? That was the worst start I've ever seen. There is two points of view to take here: 1. The flagman was punishing the drivers for not lining up fast enough. 2. The flagman was too impatient to throw another yellow. I guess it could be both? lol... crazy

Modified Heat 1: A 27 car (not Skaggs) started on the pole, followed by Randy Frailey, Schaffitzel, Joey Vaughn, and Grigg. I'm thinking Randy had an air-pressure issue. He was swinging the back end a lot higher than usual in turn 1 causing the car to dip back down low in the turn too soon. Several times he had to actually make a bit of a right turn to avoid hitting the tires. (I noticed they moved the tires down a bit for the features) Joey Vaughn took the victory followed by Randy and Grigg.

Modified Heat 2: Cates was on the pole. #88 Wheeler was very fast. Barbee appeared to be in a new car... and I think somebody was driving his old one with a slightly modified paint job. Who knows... not me! Barbee was in the lead followed by Wheeler and Cates after a few laps. Wheeler took over the lead and took the victory.

Modified Heat 3: Jeran Frailey was on the pole followed by Allen Frailey, Skaggs, Conley, a 91 car (no announcer and several 91's = confusion on my part!), and Teague. After a caution, Skaggs was in the lead followed by Jeran, Conley, and the 91. Skaggs took the victory, Teague 2nd, and Conley 3rd.

Modified Feature: I want to know why Wheeler started near the back of the field. He went from 5th to 1st in the heat race and has few points. Shouldn't he be on the pole? That seemed very unfair to me that he was starting back in the field while a lot of high-points drivers who finished worse in the heats started near the front. If fast drivers will be starting out front, I just think it needs to be more fair.

Anyway... onto the racing: Cates started on the pole, again, followed by Jeran, Randy, Barbee, Skaggs, Vaughn, Wilhite, Conley, Schaffitzel, Wheeler, and more... After 4 laps, Jeran was out front followed by Skaggs, Cates, Wilhite, and Barbee. After several more laps, Wheeler was in the picture sitting in 5th and Skaggs had taken the lead from Jeran. Something happened to Cates' car when he was looking to drive under Jeran Frailey. It looked like he got loose when he had to get on his breaks... but they towed him with no visible damage. I'd say one of his brake lights probably busted and he just wanted to play it safe. On the restart, Wheeler started third and whipped around the high side around Skaggs and Jeran Frailey to take the lead coming out of turn 2. Nice Pass! A man on a mission from back in the field. Skaggs took the win followed by Barbee, Randy Frailey, and Skaggs in some order.

Why am I not sure of the order? Well... the track did something else 'new' tonight. They had a White-Checkered finish instead of their Green-White-Checkered finish. In my opinion this makes for unhappy fans (me). Green-White-Checkered allows the drivers to get up to speed. 4 cars were battling for the victory and 1 more lap would have been awesome. Why the change? Normally it is green-white-checkered... Good racing nonetheless.

July 21st Race Discussion

Pure Stock Heat 1: There was a truck racing pure stocks Friday.. #69 Eckles (sp?). It was an orange Chevy (and it got pretty messed up in the feature!). Kirby took the victory followed by Lee, John Cook, and Emily Jackson.

Pure Stock Heat 2: Russell Mclain started in 5th with J.D. Jackson on the pole. Steve Freeman went off turn 4, fast, and almost hit the fence by the entrance to the track! Ricky Allen took the victory followed by JD Jackson and Russell Mclain.

Pure Stock Heat 3: Wesley Bias started 3rd, Vail 4th. Bias and Vail were doing some pretty rough driving... not enough to get black flagged in my opinion... but they were both sent to the pits anyway. I think Muhlhauser took the victory.

Pure Stock Feature: There was some pretty rough racing during this feature. Early on, John cook moved past Emily Jackson to take third... but was soon stranded on the high side and several cars went underneath. The track was very strange last night... it was watered at odd times. Anyway... the Mclains managed to move up to first and second after a while, and Lee was able to put a pass on Russell to take first away. I believe the finishing order was: Lee, Russell, Allen.

Factory Feature 1: Vaughan started on the pole, Holman started from the rear. Billy Frohnapfel got into Lesa Vaughan early on, which sent Vaughan to the pits. BJ Frohnapfel took the victory followed by Holman, Billy Frohnapfel, and Sugarbear.

Factory Feature 2: Steve Smith battled #89 Badley for the lead for several laps. Badley took the heat victory followed by Steve Smith, Mike Morgan, and Campbell.

Factory Feature: I don't have a lot of notes on this one, but early in the race BJ Frohnapfel was leading followed by Billy, Lesa Vaughan, Brian Scroggins, and Brannon Holman. BJ ended up taking the victory despite a great challenge from Billy. Billy took second and Sugarbear took third.

E-Mod Heat 1: Danny Womack was looking very fast in his #3. Northrup ended up on the infield early on. Towards the end, Womack put a great pass on Rodney Steddum for the win. Womack was able to beat Steddum out of turn 4 despite the fact that they left the turn at the same time and Steddum was up high. Usually, drivers up high get a better run... but Womack found the grip.

E-Mod Heat 2: Jeremy Ross started 5th. Speaking of Jeremy Ross... I was going to go laugh at him during the intermission... he literally got cut-off 5-10 times during this heat. He was swarmed by kids so I let him go, though. Talk about working your way through traffic... He was able to take the lead (I think it was on the last lap). Steddum took 2nd and Murphy took third. For some reason Mike Collins wasn't racing E-Mods last night.

E-Mod Feature: Womack, Northrup, and Ross started from the very back of the field. After the first caution, Womack was up to 7th, and Ross 5th. I had to go to the bathroom at this point, and when I came out they were racing. As I was walking to my seat, I looked away. When I looked back I saw lots of sparks and Jeremy Ross at a stop. I think #55 Green got up on the wall and flew down pit road... but I'm not positive. When they went green, Womack made his way into the lead without too much trouble while Ross struggled his way through the field. As Womack opened up a straight-a-way lead, Ross had to get off the gas several times to avoid wrecks. Like I said earlier, the track was goofy last night... the watering sequence left only 1 groove to race on. Nobody was doing well up high at this point. Ross finally made his way into 2nd with 1 lap to go, but was unable to close the gap between himself and Danny Womack. Danny took the victory and the extra $100 payout which he donated. Ross took 2nd and an extra $50 from Womack, and Cagle took 3rd and another extra $50 from Womack. Nice race and thanks to Womack for the payout.

Modified Heat 1: For the second week in a row, there was an absolutely miserable car count for modified... only 2 heats. The racing was good anyway. In this heat, Jeran Frailey was in the lead followed by Allen Frailey. As I predicted early in the heat.. nobody was able to get through Uncle Bumper... who I think could also be called "stone wall". When Allen is playing a support role... he is nearly impossible to get past. We've all seen it before and I think it's fun to watch! Maybe not so fun for Carl Conley though who finished 3rd. Allen took 2nd and Jeran took 1st.

Modified Heat 2: #18 Brandon Watts was looking extremely fast... and I think he was in a new car. It Looked new anyway. They finished: Watts, Barbee, Randy Frailey.

Modified Feature: I think this was another one of those nights where the normal line-up rules didn't apply.. because Randy Frailey and Jeran Frailey started 1 and 2 (Jeran on the pole). Conley started 3rd I believe. Early on, Watts got a bit excited and ran into Jeran Frailey HARD... it took Watts out of the race and spread out a bunch of Jeran's sheet metal. On the restart-on-caution, Randy was leading, Jeran was 2nd, and Crowe was in 3rd. Schaffitzel spun shortly after Crowe got by Jeran... and they restarted again. Barbee was running into everybody... as usual? hehe. Eventually his car gave out as his left-rear tire popped in turn 3. It was violent enough that it took some sheet metal off when it blew. Randy Frailey held on for the victory, despite a good challenge by Conley. Crowe finished 3rd, Joey Vaughn 4th, Jeran Frailey 5th, and Mike Collins in 6th.

Comments: It was nice to see a couple 'new' modified drivers Conley and Crowe finish in the top 3. It was also surprising to see Mike Collins move up to modifieds... I guess he's been racing E-Mods for quite a while! Randy Frailey ran an awesome race... he was in the lead from start to finish... and he only hit the back wall once! haha!

July 14th Race Discussion

Pure Stock Heat 1: Muhlhauser started on the pole with Lee Mclain in 3rd. After a relatively uneventful heat, Lee took the victory followed by #7 Muhlhauser in second, and Kirby in third.

Pure Stock Heat 2: Russell Mclain started on the back, with Vernon Vail on the pole, and Ricky Allen in second. Allen quickly moved into the lead, and Russell quickly moved into third. Allen held the lead all the way til the last lap when he got a bit sideways on the back straight. This made Vail & Mclain jump on their breaks. When Ricky straightened out, he still had the lead, but Vail and Mclain were right on his bumper. Ricky Allen #35 took the victory, #6 Russell Mclain took 2nd, and #400 Vernon Vail took third.

Pure Stock Feature: Muhlhauser started on the pole, with Russell Mclain in 6th, Ricky Allen in 2nd, Lee Mclain in 9th. Shortly after the start, Ricky Allen moved into the lead followed by Vail in 2nd, and Russell in third with Lee having moved up to 4th. After a great battle between the Mclains, Lee came out on top this time and took the victory followed by Russell in 2nd, Ricky Allen in third, Vernon Vail in 4th, and Muhlhauser in 5th.

Factory Heat 1: Lesa Vaughan was in this heat- I guess she picked up a new engine. This is the same body she had been racing in pure stock for a few weeks. In fact, it's the one she won with last week. Badley started on the pole. Holman quickly moved up into the lead and took the victory followed by Scroggins, Billy Frohnapfel, and Mike Badley.

Factory Heat 2: BJ Frohnapfel started on the pole followed by Campbell in 2nd, and Steve Smith in 4th. Steve Smith was looking fast, as was Jerry Wagner. However, BJ squeezed out a victory followed by Steve Smith, Jerry Wagner, and Mike Morgan.

Factory Feature: Badley started on the pole, followed by BJ Frohnapfel, Lesa Vaughan, Billy Frohnapfel, Campbell, and Tommy Cantwell. On Lap 1, Scroggins tried to squeeze between the slower Lesa Vaughan and the tire at the bottom of turn 2... but there wasn't enough room. That didn't stop him though! Or maybe I should say... that didn't stop the big-ass-white-tire from sticking a nice hole in Sugarbear's left front tire. Fortunately, it was the first lap of a feature, so he was given 3 laps to fix the tire, which he did. After about 5 more laps due to line-up confusion under caution, they went green! (finally). Holman was looking quickest, and may have taken the victory had it not taken him 5+ laps to pass Mike Badley. Badley was putting up a great battle. Finally, Holman got around Badley, but was unable to reel in BJ Frohnapfel. They finished: BJ, Holman, Billy, Badley, Cantwell, Wagner, Smith.

E-Mod Heat 1: 3 heats of E-Mods today. Cagle started on the pole followed by Northrup, Manning, and Collins. Manning took the victory followed by Collins, Cagle, and Northrup.

E-Mod Heat 2: Rodney Steddum started on the pole. On lap 1, there was an unfortunate chain reaction for #7 Sanders. Montgomery (running 2nd) got sideways as he tried to go around the outside of Steddum in turn 2. He was able to correct it, but his speed dropped suddenly. Murphy got on his breaks hard, and to try to avoid a collision, Sanders went high... but there wasn't enough room between Murphy and the wall. Sanders broke his front axle (I think), among other things. Montgomery continued to run fast, and took the victory via the high line around the track.

E-Mod Heat 3: Ross started 3rd with Allen Steddum on the pole. Ross quickly moved up into the lead with Braden taking 2nd.

E-Mod Feature: Rodney Steddum started on the pole, with Allen Steddum on the outside of row 1. Cagle started 3rd with Montgomery in 4th, Wagner 5th, Northrup 6th, Collins 7th, and Ross 8th. Allen Steddum had trouble getting up to speed, and Montgomery moved into the lead on lap 2. Wagner went off turns 3/4 later that lap, and the caution was thrown. By this point, Collins had moved up to 4th, and Ross 5th. After the restart, Cagle moved into the lead, and the top 7 cars were all running together. Ross eventually took the lead and Collins pulled to the infield. That was an unfortunate deal for Collins - that will probably eliminate his points lead because Ross took the victory. Congratulations to Ross on his second victory in a row. Cagle took 2nd with Montgomery in third, Northrup 4th, Manning 5th, and Rodney in 6th.

Modified Heat 1: Randy Frailey started and finished on the pole. Skaggs started and finished second, and was looking very fast. He won last week's race.

Modified Heat 2: Jeran Frailey started on the pole with Allen Frailey in second and Fulton in third. Barbee tried to take the lead from Jeran, but got sideways on the last turns of the last lap. I believe Jeran took the victory followed by Allen Frailey and #88 Wheeler in some order.

Modified feature: Copple was scheduled on the pole, but apparently moved to the rear giving 3rd-place scheduled Randy Frailey the pole due to the inside row moving up. Jeran Frailey started in second, followed by Crowe, Cates, and Allen Frailey. Jeran snatched the lead from his dad on the first lap, and held it for quite a while. Skaggs fought Randy for the lead for several laps. A caution was thrown when Copple & Arnold got tied up. Shortly after the restart, Skaggs was able to get around both Randy and Jeran for the lead. By the time Randy got around Jeran, Skaggs had a sizeable lead. The gap only grew as the race went on, as Skaggs had his machine hooked up just right for the second week in a row. #88 Wheeler moved into 3rd late in the race pushing Jeran back to 4th. Congratulations to Skaggs on this second victory in a row. Randy Frailey finished 2nd followed by Wheeler, Jeran Frailey, Joey Vaughn, Carl Conley, Fausten Wilhite, and Ronnie Barbee.

July 7th Race Discussion

Pure Stock Heat 1: Vaughan on pole. Vail, starting from near the back, made a triple pass early to move into third. Ricky Allen was second most of the heat, and was unable to make the pass on Vaughan. They finished: Vaughan, Allen, Vail, Kirby

Pure Stock Heat 2: JD Jackson and Emily Jackson were first and second... again... which is fine. They need to play some poker or something - they'd be great at drawing cards! Muhlhauser started 3rd, Bias 4th, and Brandie Levasseur brought up the rear in her front-wheel drive. Bias worked his way up into second, while Brandie had some issues with her car and spent a few seconds on the infield, only to come back out on the track a lap down. They finished: JD, Bias, Emily, Muhlhauser.

Pure Stock Feature: It was fun to watch Bias move his #17 up towards the front the entire race. Vaughan started on the pole, again. She stayed there the entire race. JD Jackson started on the front row, and Emily Jackson started on row 2. Ricky Allen started 3rd. JD took the early lead, but was quickly overtaken by Vaughan. JD's car broke down, and Ricky Allen was left to challenge Vaughan for the lead (to no avail). They finished: Vaughan, Bias, Allen, Vail.

Factory Heat 1: Badley started on the pole, with Billy Frohnapfel in second, Mike Morgan in third, and Steve Smith in fourth. They finished: Billy F. Steve S., #327 Richardson, and Badley.

Factory Heat 2: BJ Frohnapfel started on the pole with #63 Campbell in second, SugarBear in third, Holman in fourth, and Gillian in fifth. Holman spent several laps trying to get around Sugarbear, but was unable to... Sugarbear held him off. BJ took the win with Sugarbear in second and Holman in third.

Factory Feature: Badley started on the pole with BJ Frohnapfel in second, Billy Frohnapfel in third, Campbell in fourth followed by Morgan, Scroggins, Smith, and Holman. Holman worked his way up through the field... but we saw a repeat of Heat 2. Scroggins was successful in halting Holman's attack and they finished: Billy Frohnapfel, Scroggins, and Holman.

E-Mod Heat 1: They started: Montgomery, Starling, Northrup, Wagner, R. Steddum. Montgomery was looking extremely fast. He was running Ross's line up top. He looked nothing like an E-Mod out there... Maybe he installed some of Russell Mclain's jet-fighter parts. Anyway... Northrup managed to work his way up into second, and they finished: Montgomery, Northrup, Wagner, R. Steddum, Starling.

E-Mod Heat 2: With both point leaders in this race, I had to take video. #75 Scott started on the pole followed by Braden, Cagle, Collins, and Ross. After some great racing, many times 3-wide... Collins finished first followed by Ross in second, Braden in third, and Cagle in 4th.

E-Mod Feature: Good racing here. Collins had a flat early, but was able to get it fixed in time to get back out on the track before losing a lap (long caution). After being moved to the back of the field due to the flat, he worked his way up Ross and they worked their way towards the lead. Ross made a pass for the lead, and at the same time Collins was battling Northrup for second. Something seemed to happen to Collins as he slowed down from his previous pace... and he seemed content to stay in third for the remainder of the race. Ross put on a great show and he took home the victory. Northrup looked strong and took second with Collins in third and Montgomery in fourth.

Modified Heat 1: Christi Mack started on the pole followed by #91 Duval, #38 Jeran Frailey, #51 Randy Frailey, and #07 Cates. Jeran Frailey made a repeat of last week and took a heat victory followed by his dad in second and Mack in third.

Modified Heat 2: Barbee started 3rd with Grigg in 4th. There was a bit of a wreck on lap 1 which sent Barbee to the pits. #27J Skaggs was looking fast and he took the heat victory. #11 Morton finished second and #18 Watts took third.

Modified Heat 3: Delaney Erickson started on the pole followed by Allen Frailey in second or third, Crowe in 4th, and Vaughn in 5th. I couldn't tell who finished first, but Allen took second and Conley took third.

Modified Feature: #91x Duval started on the pole. Jeran Frailey started third, Allen 5th, and Randy in 6th. It was a bit disappointing to see Randy's car break early on... I have no idea what happened, I was busy video taping. Anyway... after a caution, Skaggs was still out front followed by Jeran and Allen in third and fourth (Duval in 2nd). After the next caution, Allen and Jeran moved up to 2nd and 3rd and fell a was behind the leader Skaggs as they battled each other. After a long stretch of green, they finished: Skaggs, #88 Wheeler, Allen Frailey, and Carl Conley in fourth.

June 30th Race Discussion

Nice races! First place for Pure Stock, Factory Stock, and E-Mod took $750 with the Modified Winner taking $2000.

I'll update the stats as soon as possible. They track has been slow to post the results from races (since june 2nd) and that is my only possible source for results to run through my driver-tracking program.

Anyway... on to the update:

Pure Stock Heat 1: 2b Kirby was on the pole with Lee Mclain starting 3rd and Vernon Vail starting last. After a false start, Lee Mclain made a double pass before entering turn 1 and quickly took the lead. Vale was all the way up into 2nd by lap 2, and Ricky Allen soon made his way into 3rd. They finished in this order: Mclain, Vail, Allen, Kirby, Walker.

Pure Stock Heat 2: Wesley Bias was back for the first time in weeks. He was on the pole tonight. Russell Mclain started 3rd, Lesa Vaughan started 5th. Bias, Russell, and Vaughan battled for the lead until 7B Steve Freeman went off turns 3 & 4. Russell took first, Lesa 2nd, and 91 Dale Hancock (sp?) in third.

Pure Stock Feature: This was one of the most interesting Purestock features I've ever seen. We got to see some real teamwork in action... and most people in the stands found it very fun to watch. I'll get to that shortly. Starting order: Lee, Russell, Vail, Hancock, Ricky Allen. Soon after the start, Lee and Russell were still up front and Vaughan had made her way up to third. Bobby Jack Potts had a rough night. Apparently, he had some oil leaking into/onto something hot because he was leaking a TON of smoke! It was pretty much impossible to see any of the cars on the south side of the track from where I was sitting (turn 1). They eventually asked him to pull off the track to let the smoke clear -- that's probably best for his engine anyway. Anyway... Lesa soon made her way into 2nd, but that didn't last long. Soon Lee and Russell were 1 & 2 with Lesa in third and Ricky Allen in fourth. Lee and Russell spent the next 10 laps or so side by side.... and i mean literally. I don't think there was a single second where they weren't side by side... and that includes the finish where Russell pulled out the victory with Lee in second, Lesa in third, Ricky and Vernon Vail took 4th and 5th (I'm not sure which order).

Factory Heat 1: Rogers started up front with Sweed (Sp?) in second, Scroggins in third, Steve Smith in fourth, Billy F. in 5th. Billy was a bit tight and got up into Steve Smith in turns 3/4 which resulted in Steve spinning. On the restart, Sugarbear spun on the front straight... and came close to rolling the car. Shortly after it went green, Billy F. went high in turns 3/4 and did a powerslide. The announcer called it pretty good - it was like a skateboarder board-sliding a rail. Rogers got up into the back wall.. and I think it knocked him out of gear because he slowed... but later got back up to speed. Anyway... they finished: Steve Smith, Billy, #63 Campbell, and Badley.

Factory Heat 2: This heat was relatively uneventful. Holman started and finished first. BJ Frohnapfel started 5th and finished second. Morgan brought up third.

Factory Feature: Starting Order: Steve Smith, Holman, Billy F, BJ F, Campbell, and Morgan. Holman quickly took the lead, and BJ Frohnapfel worked his ay into second and tried very hard to reel in Holman, but Holman was took quick and took the victory. This was a good win for him - $750 and he had family in town from across the country to watch him race. Nice work!

E-Mod Heat 1: Davin Blake had a car ready to race tonight... it was good to see him back. Davin - I printed off a pic for you - thanks for trading me that program the other day =) Northrup started 4th, and Blake in 6th. Northrup quickly moved into the lead. They finished in this order: Northrup, Slader, Brent Manning, and #35 Pitts.

E-Mod Heat 2: #38 Ross started on the pole, but spun early. I appreciate it when a driver doesn't force a caution from a spin-out. Ross hauled ass to keep things green despite the fact he was half a lap behind the pack. Anyway... I think this guy's last name is Flock. Since the track's website is down and I'm on my laptop... I cannot look up driver's names on the points list. Anyway... I'm gonna call him Flock for this update. Flock finished first, Rodney Steddum second, and Montgomery third.

E-Mod Feature: There was a lot of contact early which lead to Slader's car breaking down. On restart, Flock was first, Manning second, and Montgomery third. #35 Pitts spun and when they went green it was Flock, Montgomery, Manning, and Ross. Ross put up a challenge but ran out of time and they finished Flock, Montgomery, Manning, Ross, Rodney Steddum, and Northrup.

Modified Heat 1: 8s Spencer was on the pole. Brian Williams jumped the gun and forced a restart. Then, Teague jumped the gun and forced a restart. This was a very physical heat with a lot of near-crashes. The 1/4 machine of Brandon Hunter lost a wheel - and on the restart Brian Williams was up to second. Shortly after, Watts moved into second and Schaffitzel into 4th. They finshed in this order: Teague, Watts, Williams, Schaffitzel.

Modified Heat 2: #44 Griggs was on the pole with #51 third, #57 Conley 4th, Bates 5th, and Corky 6th. The 1/2 car got into the back of #22 Ramm early and spun. On the restart, they were in this order: Griggs, Frailey, Conley, Bates. After a debree-caution, #22 and 1/2 got into each oter again and both spun. #11 Morton (sp?) moved up into second with a pass on the high side of Randy Frailey when another caution came out. After the restart, Randy took the spot back and they finshed: #44 Griggs, #51 Frailey, #11 Morton, #57 & #12 Conley and Bates in some order.

Modified Heat 3: Dobson started 2nd, Cates 5th, and Barbee 6th. Dobson quickly took the lead and held it to the end. Cates was having severe mechanical issues - he was pushing really bad and eventually pulled off the track. Barbee was also a bit tight, but managed to take 4th. Russell took 2nd and #5 Holzkemper took third.

Modified Heat 4: 27J Skaggs started out front. Tate Cole took the victory with #27 Skaggs in second and #37v Vaughn in third.

Modified Heat 5: #3 was a fast car. I have no idea how to pronounce the name. I think it was Kelly Shriak or something - I'm going from the way I heard the announcer say it. Anyway... #3 took the victory followed by Jerry Thompson.

Modified Heat 6: Jeran Frailey started 2nd. #118 Beckham had a false start. When they went green, Jeran made it into the lead and Beckham moved into 2nd. They finished in that order. Congratulations to Jeran on his heat victory... this was a fast heat!

Modified B Featre 1: Top 5 moved on. Brian Williams started on the pole, Barbee in 3rd, and Allen Frailey in 7th. Frailey quickly moved into 5th. After a caution and false start, Allen and #9 whose name I didn't catch made some contact which caused the #9 to hit the back wall and go up on its side - it came down and he kept going! (They were battling for the #5 cutoff position) Shortly after, they made contact again which lead to #9 falling back. They finished: Barbee, holzkemper, Schaffitzel Williams, Frailey.

Modified B Feature 2: #11 Morton started first, Joey Vaughn second, Conley 4th. There was a big crash on the back straight which left 2 cars upside down (#22 Ramm and #34m). Shortly after they went green, Conley spun in turns 1/2. They finished: Morton, Vaughn, bates, Mills, and Wilson.

Modified Feature: The Fraileys continued their bad luck streak in big money races. Randy dropped out due to something mechanical - He had an unfortunate starting position (on the outside of a guy who refused to stay low in turn 1). Jeran got knocked around and ended up getting into the front wall pretty hard which took him out. I believe Allen finished, but he started at the back of 23 fast cars (not very good track position to start!).

Teague was on the pole with Griggs in 2nd, Jeran Frailey in 6th, and Randy in 8th. Allen and Holzkemper spun early sending them to the back. On the restart, #51 went straight to the pits. Soon, #3 moved into the lead (I think her name was Kelly Shriak or something?). Soon after, there was a big pileup in turns 3/4 which involved Jeran and Allen getting into each other and both ended up sideways. Teague was in second, and Tate Cole in third. Then, Jeran got pushed up into the wall on the front straight and had to be towed. When they went green, Dobson moved into third and Cole spent several laps battling Shriak (sp?). Cole managed to make the apss and held on for the victory. Shriak took 2nd, Dobson third, and Teague 4th.

Well - apparently people have come under the impression that I am spreading negativity about track officials. I'm currently unsure of how I've done this... because:

I have no problem with any track officials
I have no memory of posting anything negative except about them calling the factory stock feature short on June 23rd due to the Scroggins Incident
I'm sort of a nice guy...
I've been 100% polite and honest with all of the track people I've met

Despite the fact that many drivers and families of drivers have expressed their gratitude towards me for keeping this site, I won't be visiting the pits anymore since I am not welcome by all. I'll be a normal paying customer and I'll continue to keep the website. I'll miss the conversations with the drivers though.

P.S. Sorry to the Starlings for no video the last 2 weeks for E-Mods - my camera situation is crappy! 1 Broken and I can't figure out my other one, haha!

It was so humid last Friday that the paper I was writing on got VERY soggy... so some of my ink is unreadable. So this might be shorter than usual!

Pure Stock Heat 1: Lesa Vaughan took an easy victory.

Pure Stock Heat 2: Bobby Jack Potts took first while Lee Mclain and JD Jackson battled it out for 2nd.

Pure Stock Heat 3: Half way through the race, Mclain and Craig (I forget number) made contact... Craig later lost control and went off turns 3/4. Russell finished first followed by the 7B of Steve Freeman and Jessie Muhlhauser in third.

Pure Stock Feature: (ink smeared!) Vaughan finished first followed by (i think) Bobby Jack Potts, Lee Mclain, Russell Mclain, and Vernon Vail.

Factory Heat 1: There was a great battle up front between Holman and Jerry Wagner. Holman managed to hold on followed by Holman and Tommy Cantwell.

Factory Feature: Only 1 heat... Mark Garman lost the hood of his car early on. There was some great racing going on, which included Brian Scroggins bumping people in the rear-end. Some people think that's okay if it doesn't cause a wreck, some people don't. Brian Scroggins thinks it's okay; The flagman doesn't. Brian Scroggins was warned, then ejected from the race with a black flag. He came over to the announcer's stand during the race and got out of his car and started yelling at the flagman. Then, the flagman threw the red flag and a bunch of the track officials ran over to see what was going on. Eventually, Scroggins hauled ass to the pits where more drama happened (I have no idea what else happened, but I'd like to know). Anyway... the stupidest thing I've seen at this track happened after this... THEY STOPPED THE RACE. They called the race because 1 driver had a disagreement. How is that fair to the other factory stock drivers? How is that fair to the fans who were enjoying the awesome battle between Jerry Wagner and Brannon Holman? I am very dissappointed in that call and I think the factory stock drivers and fans deserve a big apology for that. BAD CALL!

E-Mod Heat 1: Mike Collins started in back and was able to move up to 3rd by the end with Montgomery in second and Northrup in first.

E-Mod Heat 2: Ross started in back. Phillip Wagner made a good run finishing in second followed by Murphy in third. Ross was running amazingly fast and took an easy victory.

E-Mod Feature: Jeremy Ross started near the back, and made a triple-pass early on. I wish I had video of it, but I don't. Anyway, he had that machine dialed in and was shredding the track. I can't read the smeared ink for the finishing spots... but Ross ended up having engine problems and had to drop out.

Modified Heat 1: The 11A (I forgot the name) is touring the country racing his A-Mod at various dirt tracks. He's from North Carolina. Griggs was very fast and I think he took first in this one.

Modified Heat 2: First place is smeared on this one, but I think it says Cole finished first... Cates second, and Crowe in third.

Modified Heat 3: Barbee took first and if I remember right Allen Frailey spent the entire heat battling his brother Randy for second place. That was fun to watch!

Modified Feature: Despite having 23 or 24 cars, they didn't have a B feature... which was fine. The ink is severly smeared on this one... but I do see that Paul Cates took first followed by #28 Dobson and #44 Griggs. Following them were #18 Watts in fourth, Hice Lacoe in fifth, Carl Conley in sixth, and Allen Frailey in seventh (unofficial).

Driver Statitistics

I know a lot of you enjoy the driver statistics that I post.

For the last 3 weeks in a row, they have not posted the race results.

Fortunately for one of the races, I was able to talk Davin Blake into swapping me for a program... but last week they didn't even sell programs with the previous week's results.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say here is... I cannot possibly keep the driver statistics up to date if the Salina Highbanks Speedway refuses to post race results.

Also... Last week the Daily Times posted the race results for OUTLAW MOTOR SPEEDWAY instead of SALINA HIGHBANKS because Outlaw actually supplied their results!

If you want to see up-to-date and accurate driver stats, I suggest asking the powers-that-be to tell us who finished where.

June 16th Race Discussion

Good races tonight...

For the 100th race in a row....
- 2 pure stocks DQ'd and one Mclain survives
- Randy Frailey hits the back wall
- a caution takes more than 10 minutes despite no serious wreck
- The sun set during the race
- Many left turns were performed

PureStock Heat 1:
JD Jackson was on the pole with Jessie Muhlhauser in 2nd. After a few laps they dried the track for 10 minutes due to some fluid on the track, and Russell Mclain jumped out to the lead after the caution and took the heat victory.

PureStock Heat 2:
Lee Mclain started in the 3rd spot. 33X get into the back wall, threw up a lot of sparks and blew a tire (it was loud). Mclain took the victoyr.

PureStock Feature:
I have this entire feature on video... as soon as it is verified by google I'll post a link. There was a crash on lap 1, but when they got back underway Lee Mclain worked his way through the field. Jessie Muhlhauser was running fast, maintaining 2nd place. #22k Johnathon Craig went off turn 2 (very fast) which brought out another caution. There was yet another wreck which took several cars out including Vernon Vail. Down to only 7 cars, they stayed green to the end. Lee won followed by somebody in 2nd and Russell in third.

Factory Heat 1:
#21 (Ashley Vaskins I think) started up on the pole. BJ Frohnapfel started in 2nd, Steve Smith 4th, Sugarbear in 5th. After a few laps #21 was so high in turn 4 she had to take the access road by the stands. A few laps later, SugarBear did a looooong powerslide in turns 2/3 and came to a stop (which brought out a caution). They finished: BJ, Steve Smith, #63, Scroggins.

Factory Heat 2:
There was a great battle between Jerry Wagner and Billy Frohnapfel. Billy came out ahead and took the heat victory.

Factory Feature:

Ashley Vaskins started up on the pole. BJ Frohnapfel in 3rd, Holman in 9th, SugarBear in 10th. The caution flag flew for some reason, but when they went green BJ was in first, with #89 Mike Badley in 2nd, and Billy in third. Holman and Steve Smith continued to work their ways up through the field moving up to 4th and 5th. They finished roughly in this order. I'll post the exact results when I figure them out... my factory stock video is having 'technical problems'.

EMod Heat 1:
Sean Murphy spun out early on, and Larry Cagle held on for the win.

EMod Heat 2:
Montgomery was on the pole, Roger Starling in 2nd, Collins in 4th. Collins managed to work his way up to the lead by the end of the race and took the heat victory.

EMod Feature:
I apologize, I have nearly nothing for this race. I spent the ENTIRE race battling my video camera. Apparently a SONY DVD video camera can only use SONY DVDs to record on.... despite the fact they use the exact same technology as the cheaper DVDs. You want to know the difference? The cheaper ones are 3 for $6 whereas the SONY versions are 3 for $16.... same technology! What a rip off. Thanks SONY i really appreciate it (idiots).

Modified Heat 1:
Only 3 cars finished this heat... #51 Randy Frailey took first with #22 Corky Ramm in 2nd and #38 Jeran Frailey in 3rd. I had a chance to meet Corky Friday. I graduated in 2000 with his daughter Allison. He's a nice guy!

Modified Heat 2:
Cates started on the pole with Carl Conley starting in 5th. Conley managed to work his way into the lead by the end of the heat and took the victory with Cates finishing in 2nd.

Modified Heat 3:
Tate Cole took this relatively uneventful heat.

Modified Heat 4:
Wade Bates took this heat. That guy is running fast! Grigg took 2nd and Barbee took third.

Modified Feature:
You'll have to see the video for this one... some very good racing. #51 Randy Frailey apparently had his car dialed in perfectly... he had that Left-Front wheel up in the air most of the way around the track. Frailey started on the pole with Tate Cole somewhere close by... I think 3rd maybe. Anyway... Cole put a pass on Fraily and they continued to battle for several laps (check it out on the video if you have broadband!) Other than the battle up front... this feature was rough on hardware... only 12 cars finished. The last one to go out was Erin Bradshaw... I didn't see the crash, but she was shook up bad enough to bring out the ambulance. I hope she's doing just fine. Allen Frailey had a good finish (4th), Wade Bates finished 2nd, and Tate Cole finished in third.

A Flurry of Updates!

I just posted a flurry of updates! I hope you enjoy them! I have some things to say:

Conley's total money won is a little lower than it should be, I will make the appropriate changes to the database. His move up to A-Mod goofed up my program =)
I have submitted some videos from June 2nd to Google Video, when they are approved I will post them.
If anybody wants to use any of the pictures on this site for anything, feel free to use them without asking.
If you notice that Dawn has posted the finishes for a previous race and I have not posted the driver statistics yet, feel free to email me to remind me and I'll do it ASAP!

June 9th Race Discussion

Pure Stock Heat 1: Vaughn started up front with J.D. Jackson in the 2nd spot. Potts ended up battling Vaughn for the lead, but Vaughn came out victorious.

Pure Stock Heat 2: Early on, both Mclains jumped out to 1st and 2nd. They battled for the lead, and this time Lee came out on top with Russell bringing up 2nd and #7 bringing up third.

Pure Stock Feature: #7 Jessie Muhlhauser started on the pole with Vaughn close behind and Vale starting in 5th, Russell Mclain starting in 6th, Potts in 7th, and Lee Mclain starting in the 8th spot. The Jackson duo were in 2nd and 3rd at the start. Both Mclains were fast early, but it looked like Lee overheated or something (either steam or very white smoke was coming out of his car). About the same time, Vaughn pulled off the track (I missed it, so I don't know why). Russell Mclain and Potts battled for the elad for a while. On the last lap, Potts and Freeman made contact... Potts dropped back to third, Freeman took 2nd, and Russell Mclain took yet another victory in his #6 Lincoln.

Note: After various DQ's - Jessie Muhlhauser placed 2nd place! Nice job!

Factor Stock Heat 1: Holman was looking fast and took the win here, with Steve Smith and Mike Morgan bringing up 2nd and third.

Factory Stock heat 2: Brian Scroggins took the win here with Jerry Wagner bringing up second.

Factory Stock Feature: Early in this race, Steve Smith had the back end of his car fly up in the air due to rubbing tires with another car... he stayed out though. Wagner had a flat early on and had to pull to the pits. On a caution restart, Scroggins was in the lead with Steve Smith in 2nd and Holman in third. Holman ended up working his way into the lead with Rogers taking 2nd.

E-Mod Heat 1: Mike Collins took a relatively easy win here. Mike Northrup was sporting a new car. He had some small handling issues, otherwise the car looked fast!

E-Mod Heat 2: Montgomery appeared to have a new car. He was very fast in this heat. Ross and Montgomery battled for the lead, but Ross came out ahead this time and took the victory.

E-Mod Feature: Ross started in 4th, Northrup in 5th, Collins in 7th. Ross moved up into 2nd early on. After a bit of racing, Ross had made his way into the lead with Collins right behind him in 2nd. Ross and Collins spent the rest of the race battling for the lead, but Collins was not able to make the pass. The #3 took 3rd, Collins took 2nd, and Ross took first.

Modified heat 1: Christi Mack started on the pole with Randy Frailey starting 2nd and Donnie Crowe starting third or 4th. Early in this one, Wilhite went off turns 3/4 bringing out a caution. Tate Cole worked his way into the lead with Randy Frailey taking 2nd, Christi taking third, and Donnie Crowe taking 4th.

Modified Heat 2: Paul Cates started on the pole with Conley in 2nd and Jeran Frailey in third or fourth. Cates and Conley battled for the lead for several laps, but Cates came out ahead. Cates took the win with Barbee in 2nd and Conley in third.

Modified Heat 3: About midway through the heat, #44 Grigg was out front with Teague in 2nd, somebody in third, and Allen Frailey in fourth. Teague and another driver got into the back wall, and shortly after Grigg took the win.

Modified Feature: Christi Mack was on the pole, Cates in 2nd, Allen Frailey in fourth, Carl Conley in third. After the first lap, Randy Frailey had moved up to 3rd (from 6th or 8th or something). When he pulled up along side Cates on the back straight, Cates apparently didn't see Frailey on the outside of him, and forced Frailey into the back wall. I suspect atleast 1 axle was broken, because it was a very hard hit and Randy's car didn't appear to function properly as it went off turn 3. Moving on... Later in the race Conley made his way up to the lead with Cole in 2nd, Christi in third, Barbee in fourth, and Cates in 5th. Barbee made his way up to 2nd and battled Conley for the lead for many laps. Conley held him off to take the victory. Congratulations to Conley who has only been driving an A-Mod at Salina for 1 or 2 weeks (He was in E-Mods for a long time). Barbee took 2nd and Cole took third. Nice racing!
